I was trying to squeeze in a trip at the end of February before my youngest turns 3 & we would have to buy him a ticket. He would be 3 by the end of our trip. I thought this would be a very slow time to go, since its before spring break hits & not during Pres. week. However, when I went to look up hotel info on Disney website it says peak season begins Feb 12th. That seems awfully early to me. I dream of going during a slow time. We went Thanksgiving last year & I'm still tired of fighting crowds. Anyone have experience with this time of year? My oldest is in Kindergarten & this will probably be the last time we can take him out of school without a problem. Thanks for your help.

President's Day is February 16th this year so that is why rates go up in the middle of the month.

Also, Mardi Gras is February 24th this year so that last week of February may have more park goers than usual.

I hope this helps.

The last few years we've gone to WDW at the end of Feb and the I wouldn't even call them "crowds". We practically had the park to ourselves. We took video in epcot by the fountain and I think there were a total of maybe 12 people when we did a 360 degree turn. This was at noon on a Sunday!!! It was fantastic not having to wait in lines. We rode Spaceship Earth 3 times without having to get off. We just stayed on the ride!! Saturday was a little busier at MK but not at what we were expecting! The only drawback is the weather... still a little cool during the day and almost cold at night.
Have fun.

DS had a strange school planning holiday so we went Feb 27-March 5, 2003. Stayed at YC and literally had the Boardwalk to ourselves at night. The weather was misty, rainy, breezy and not good for pool time but the parks were wonderful - we never waited for anything!!!! In fact, we stayed on Buzz Lightyear and rode 3 times. Same thing with Star Tours! I would go again in a heartbeat but alas, no holiday for ds at this time this year.

p.s. do pack those rain jackets though!!!
