We are leaving very very soon... and was wondering how the last week of August is going to compare with previous years.

We picked the last week because most local school are in session, and also neighboring states.

The NE/New England area are still out for the summer, so I anticipate that crowd.

Last year, also there was a large UK /Scotland/India crowd as well.

I've been hearing crowded from recent trip reports.. will the crowds die down this week or not?

Thanks..

We do anticipate using EE and fastpass, and have UPH, so we can go somewhere else if needed to.

I am assuming it's going to busier than past years due to FTP, but I think it will still be relatively slow. We went one year at the end of August (never again  couldn't breathe in the heat!) and it was mostly foreigners we practically walked on every ride for the most part. Usually kids are in school by then or getting ready for school like us here. I think you're going to do okay, have fun!

i sure hope they die down next week b/c that's when we'll be there! :p we usually try to avoid the summer but it's the only time we can go this year.

I'm hoping for a low turn out too because I will be there as well!! We have to stick to school holidays as my DH and I are both teachers and this will be the last 2 weeks of our school holiday.

We're planning 2 days the last week in Aug. One at AK and one at MK. Hope the crowds are light.

We were there last year and it was wonderful. Longest waits were about 15 minutes for both, Great Movie Ride, and Space MT.
I had anticipated this year to be more crowded with the FTP and no AP rates out, but judging from the availability in rooms on WDW's site, it may not be so bad. Ive found availability at ASMO, standard and preferred, POR, standard, standard with trundle, and water with trundle, and Polynesian, all options. I would guess if I kept trying different resorts it would be the same.
Keep your fingers crossed!

Im going at the same time. When I booked my trip back on May 30, BTW it was the Fairy Tale Package, I tried to get into CBR, but it was full. I ended up getting AS Sports which is fine. A week later I went back in and did a test booking and I ended up getting CBR. Talk about being irritated. I could have changed it, but I didnt, so thats my fault. I didnt want to spend an extra 200.00 when all we are going to do is sleep.

My dates are Aug23-Aug30.

I have been reading in some posts about a green ribbon. Some say to wear it so other Dis'er will know Im part of the group.
ANy info on that would be appreciated.

You got it right Nebsky. Lime green ribbons are what Disers use to identify other Disers around the parks. Some wear them, some tie them on backpacks, strollers, whatever.

BTW, welcome to the Dis!

I guess its just us Dis'ers that will be there next week..

I for one will have a lime green Home Depot Mickey Head pinned on the backpack with user name on it... Cindy B. Say hi if you see me! I'm going to try to laminate it,bu that may not happen.

There was avalibility at Sports which is where we originally booked and then decided on Wilderness Lodge... (gotta love the FTP!)

Hey, count me in that week. We arrive on the 23rd and don;t depart until Sept.2. First 8 nights at ASMO and then 2 nights Poly. We are going to MGM Sun evening and then again either Wed or Thur evening.

I have the Fantasmic package booked on Thurs., but am hoping I can see it Sun without waiting more then 30 minutes. Anyone have any idea if that is possible. I'll cancel Thurs if we see it Sun. I think paying $10 for each of our 3 kids is a little much considering there are no characters and also my husband and I don't usually get appetizers(spelling??) and usually only order 1 dessert if that . But if we can't see it Sunday we will splurge and pay for the package.

I'll look for some ribbon this weekend.

I have no info to share, but I sure am hoping the crowds will be lighter since the hours are decreased so much.
