Hi all. I'm new here and enjoying learning all about DL. We are going on our first family trip in either late April or early May. I've never been, our 5 year old has never been, and my DH hasn't been in 20 years, so we are so excited.

I'm curious what the crowds are like the last week of April? Is there a place where I can look up crowd levels at different times of year?

TIA!

March & April can be extremely busy depending on when all the spring breaks fall. Also Easter can factor into how busy it will be. Not sure when Easter is this next year but we've gone during the week prior & a few days after & it is wall to wall people.
Hopefully some others will be able to tell you when the spring breaks are. (not just S. Cali, but Arizona, Oregon & Washington)

We went the last week of April last year. It was great :cool1: There were almost no lines mid week, and the weekend wasn't so bad either. Just make sure you add a couple of weekend days to your trip, if you want to see the fireworks. The only thing I would be concerned about is the debut of World of Color. That could make for capacity crowds. I also beleive that the rivers of America will still be drained that time next year.

What is World of Color?

We're not concerned about the fireworks as our 5 year old is deathly afraid of them! In fact, he's already worried that we'll be able to hear them from our hotel. :)

This is all great input, thank you!

Nevermind, I looked up World of Color. Shoot, now I'm concerned it will start that same week. What to do, what to do??

Late April and early May usually has great weather and lower crowds. Although as noted already the new WoC show will draw some very big crowds to DCA.

This time period is off-season. Make sure you know what that means. See "What You Should Know About Off-Season at DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=18462889

The Rivers of America are being drained in early January and the ROA rides and shows will be down until May or June. So you will miss the Fantasmic show, Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, Mark Twain, Columbia ship and Davey Crockeyy canoes.
