There is a good chance our Nov/Dec 2016 trip will be out last for a few years. A job opportunity has us potentially moving to Alaska for 2-3 years and I just don't know that we will be able to visit Disneyland during that time.

Our current APs expire Dec 10 so I am looking to go go ALL out on this trip.

Our party consists of 2 adults and our children ages 19, 17, and 15. They don't embarrass easily and definitely embrace their inner child. We all do.

I am wondering what your families have done to make your trips extra special? So far we are staying one night at the PPH club level and 2 nights at the GCV in a 1 bedroom. The rest of our Anaheim time will be spent at the Homewood Suites by Hilton- Convention Center.

We also have a few days in Seal Beach prior to Disney and we are ending our trip at the GCV. We will have a car.

Anyway, sorry for the babble....

:thanks: for any replies.

We did breakfast at the Plaza Inn. It was the first character meal my family had ever done, even my dad. We had a fantastic time. I would also maybe try for Blue Bayou. Good luck on the job opportunity. My friend and her husband were stationed in Alaska for a couple years and loved it.

Have you thought of doing a tour? Do they have Keys to the Kingdom at DLR? Anyway, could be something fun, memorable and different for your crew.

Would it be possible to splurge on a VIP tour? I would make sure to use PhotoPass as much as possible! Get family photos all over the resort so you can remember every detail of this trip. Definitely make PS reservations at all your favorite TS restaurants and make sure to visit your favorite CS places, too. (Take photos of your favorite foods and snacks, too -- those memories really last!)

Advice from the other side of the planet: if you or the fam have favorite foods, ask for the recipes and take them with you....we even plate them as they are a DL.

Photos of the little details you love about the place.

Taking the 'Walk in Walt's Footsteps' tour.

Try to get a photo of the family in the pilot house of the Mark Twain.

But most important of all, go and have fun. Live in the moment and make memories.

Best of luck.

I appreciate all the replies. Sadly I forgot to add that going ALL out has it's price limitations.

I am highly considering the Blue Bayou. I think dinner would be better but lunch is less $$ and I would want a water table. Me, my son, and one of my daughters has been but my hubby and middle daughter have not.

That would be fun! We have not done that tour. Might be really neat during the holidays too.

Sadly a VIP tour would be way out of budget but I agree, they are amazing! We have been fortunate enough to have done one and it was incredible. Love the photo idea of our favorite foods and I will be making a list of must-eats.

I'd do the WoC Dessert Party too. Or the Holiday tour we LOVED that in December 2013.

Is there still a Fantasmic Dessert Party? The Holiday Tour looks great! I think I read about parade seating and hot coco?

Little details are the key! We will take a ton of pics. I will make the hubby drag around the proper camera, not just use our phones. LOVE the recipe idea too! DH has made Bengal BBQ before. WE will need it more than ever now.

The pilot house on the Mark Twain would be extra special. Maybe front of the Monorail too or the Lily Bell?

Fantasmic is closed until next summer when Rivers of America reopen but right now there is a World of Colour Dessert Party where for $79/person you get a bread basket, cheese, grapes, a plate of desserts, alcoholic drinks for those old enough and a TABLE AND CHAIR! We're doing it on the 23rd but all the reviews I've seen so far have been VERY positive.

For the Holiday Tour when we did it (December 2013) we rode all 3 rides with the holiday overlays (Jingle Cruise, Haunted Mansion Holiday, and Small World Holiday) you get a couple of treat along the way and for the Parade you get Hot Chocolate in a souvenir mug and an actual chair to sit in a reserved area and watch the parade. Our group thought it was well worth the cost.

That's right! I forgot F! was closed. How far in advance can the WoC dessert party be booked? How many alcoholic drinks do you get? That sounds really fun!

I will look into the tour too. Your sentence got cut off but I am guessing that you got a couple of treats?

Thank you so much!

We started doing BB at lunch sometime back and we found that we actually preferred doing it that way! If you book the first reservation of the day you have better odds of being closer to the water fyi.

I was having internet issues and didn't notice it got cut-off thanks! I've gone back and edited it. For World of Colour there are two drink choices (champagne and a signature cocktail) and I've heard of most everyone being offered at least two drinks. The Dessert Party can be booked up to 60 days in advance either online of over the phone. You DO have to prepay for the experience in full when you book it though.

I called to book the WoC dessert party for our trip at the end of September, and the CM said it was being discontinued as of September 5th because it's part of the 60th anniversary offerings. :(

Is there something you've always wanted to do or somewhere/something you've always wanted to eat but haven't yet? Now is the time to do it!

Oh no, I already have it booked for the end of September! Well I guess if this is true they will refund me, but that's sad news.

I bring the big cameras along as well! Lol. When you get to your new home, put together a photo book or poster of all your favorite things and put it where everyone can see it when they get 'homesick'. And Bangal BBQ at home is a must for us too!

If you're going before next summer, the train is still going to be down...so the Lilly Belle won't be accessible but you might get a close up look at her. Also, the trains are stopped at Main St and Frontierland and you could get some good photos there. Oh, and at Frontierland station!

Monorail is always great!

Alaska...nope, other side of the world. We live in Australia. Grew up down in San Diego and went to DL all the time. Now I get to go every couple of years.

Do you have any friends that are big Disney park fans? They might know someone who can get you a Club 33 reservation. Now seems like a good time to ask if you're not gonna be able to go for 3 years.

Also: Napa Rose reservation (sounds like you are already on top of Blue Bayou :p) and someone in another thread said Medieval Times is only like 12 minutes away! Plaza Inn is a good choice, too. I really like buffets. Does anyone know how Goofey's Kitchen compares to Plaza Inn price and food selection wise?

That's a great idea. If we rope drop, we will probably run out of steam anyway by 11:30. pirate:

$75 is not a terrible price if it comes with two cocktails. 60 days; :thanks: We have seen the WoC a few times but since F! isn't showing this might be another fun option.

Ah. Scratch that idea then. :sad1:

::yes:: I would love to do the Chef's Counter at Napa Rose. We have been to Club 33 but I certainly would love to do that again. :cloud9: The F! Dessert Party would have been perfect.

I wouldn't splurge & just keep planning trips to DLR from Alaska. Bank of America credit card has perks on Alaska airlines.

pixiedust: I really like this idea too.

Boo on the train being down but the Monorail would be awesome too. I like the idea of train pics too.

I grew up in So Cal too- Long Beach mostly. We are now in Utah and visit twice a year. Australia must be exciting!

We do have a friend of a friend of a friend who has gotten us into Club 33 before; it's amazing. :cloud9: Good idea!

We have been to Goofy's but Plaza for a character meal. I have read wonderful things about Plaza Inn. Love their fried chicken for lunch or dinner.

You are awesome!!! :woohoo:

I've booked for September 19th and when I look online I can seen availability all the way through to September 30th. The only days that see to be unavailable are Sept 3rd and 15th. I do believe that the 60th anniversary version of WOC is ending on Sept 5th but after that it is switching back to the original one.

Edited to add the link for booking the WOC Dessert Party:
