wow, too many funerals. How is Matthew doing?

Matthew's had a rough couple of weeks but he's doing okay. He goes over to Bill's house every day to feed his chickens. But by the time he goes, Bill's usually taken care of it, unless the weather's bad. (His chicken coop is up a pretty steep hill and we've told Bill not to try to get up there if the weather's bad - he's broken his leg once on that hill by sliding on mud! ) Anyway, it usualy takes Matthew an hour or an hour and a half to "feed the chickens," even if Bill's already taken care of them. He sits and talks to Bill and helps him with stuff around the house and sometimes just sits and watches TV with him. And on the days that Matthew can't go for some reason then Andrew goes over and does the same thing. I'm very proud of both of them for doing this without being asked to!

We have noticed that Matthew is really throwing himself into his construction class at school (he's even gotten excused from a core classes a couple of times to be able to help the construction teacher) and his construction projects at home - and as a result his grades in his other classes are dropping a little. But as long as he's not failing any classes we've decided not to make too big of a deal out of it and just see how it plays itself out. I think he just needs the construction and working with his hands for his way of dealing with all of this.

I hardly slept at all last night so I think I'm going to do the same thing that I did yesterday and head back to bed as soon as the boys head out to school. I hate to waste part of the day that way but I am soooo tired!

We were supposed to have a wintry mix last night - up to an inch accumulation of ice, sleet and snow! Kids were really expected to be out of school - or at least a 2 hour delay! We didn't even get rain!

It's supposed to be rainy here today :unbrella: but nothing yet!

All the days are running together this week with me being off work so Friday's no big deal. But I'm happy for those of you who are excited about it being Friday!

This has been a depressing week for our budget. The bills have started rolling in for my surgery and DH's visit to the ER. So far my surgery is $5,500.00 and DH's ER visit is $1,675.00. Could be a lot worse! Luckily our insurance is paying fairly well so far.

NO! I would definitely be fainting if it was!!!

So far they've processed DH's ER bill and our out-of-pocket is only $150 and they've processed my doctor's bill for the surgery, which was $1,650, and my out-of-pocket for his bill is about $550.00. I think his bill got the brunt of the deductible. The hospital bill for my surgery is still being reviewed.

My boss just called. I only watch one show a day if I'm at home, Days of Our Lives at 1 p.m., and darn if he didn't call just as it came on! He had a whole list of questions about what to do about some things and how to do some things. Then he asked - for about the 10th time - when I was coming back to work. And I told him - for about the 10th time - that I won't know for sure until Monday afternoon after I go back to the doctor!
