ok, let me ask you all your opinion on something.

we have cookie booths for girl scouts coming up. (total of 12 hours)

we can only have so many girls at each booth.
My co-leader and I have to be at all the booths b/c of legal/safety requirements,etc.

So we're talking and she says since we have to be at all the booths, our girls should be able to work them all also.

So, as a parent of another girl in the troop, how would you feel know that your daughter might only get a two hour block to time to sell at the booth, but mine will get 12? (The girls will get credit for the cookies that are sold at the booth they work)

I am trying to figure out how to work it out. I totally agree with what she's saying.. I spend alot of my personal time doing things for the troop, and this is one benefit of being the leader. if they want their kid to have more booth time, they can do all the training/run meetings,etc and be a leader and then they can run one....

but then I also feel like someone may get mad. it's that people pleaser in me that makes me feel super guilty.

what do you all think?

I don't think it's fair that a mom should be expected to work the booth because they're a leader without their DD being there. I mean, most leaders would not be a leader if it weren't for the fact that their child is there. Why would a leader want to do or have to do anything if their own child wasn't there and involved.

Another thing to consider (and use as an excuse if needed) is that most girls that age don't stay home alone much. You are lucky that you have a very involved DH. But some moms don't. So I'm sure that there are some leaders that have no other choice than to bring their own DDs every time they do something like that.

If another mom complains about it then offer them the chance to be there for the ENTIRE time. Even if you still have to be there I think you'll get your point across to the other parent.

I'd say take her for the entire time you're there and don't worry about it!

I agree with Kathy -if any Mom complains then offer Her the opportunity to run the booth so her child can get more selling time

-if your there ,then your there for your child, and the group-but mostly for your child

my dd has not been sleeping well. She's waking up in the middle of the night and turning on the tv.. which then wakes me up :

I have been up since 3:20.

I know when my kids use to do this we had to remove the TV from their rooms -and I guess research shows if you use your room for just sleeping it you have less trouble doing that

I hope your DD gets over this no sleep soon-my DD is having a little trouble too lately-I think being cooped up inside too much with no soccer/exercise is starting to affect her-maybe yours too

Liz I am in the same situation. I am the cookie mom and according to our troop leader I am responsible for the booth, cookies and money.

Here is my take on things. I see both sides of the situation. Last year our Troop Leader worked every booth and her DD was top seller because of that. She got to go to an award dinner and everything. I didn't think it was fair to the other girls who only worked certain time slots due to being able to only have a certain amount of girls at the booth at a time.

I DON'T plan to be at the booths at all times. I will open and close for sure and only work certain time slots. All of the other Moms have signed forms that state if they work a booth they are responsible for the money, booth and cookies during their time slots. It is a girl scout form so I would assume that it is right.

I will also cover any time slots that are not covered, after everyone had a chance to sign up.

that is just my 2 cents.

It seems like just yesterday I went to the hospital to have her.

Sounds like the way I would do it too-and I would have no problem wih that as a previous Mom of a GS
