Our weather forecasters are promising HEAPS of rain this Saturday; biggest rainfall since 1998. About 75 - 100 mm of rain promised in the north east of the state. We're being told to brace down in Melbourne; not quite that level of rain, but about 30 mm planned.
Hmm. I might need to go to the supermarkets early on Saturday to get cat food and stuff...
We don't have a basement and our house is a little, itty-bit higher than the houses around us.
The last time a warning was issued for the state was on the day we had the really bad bush fires last year and we lost about 180 lives.
This time they are telling the farmers to move their live stock and to make sure that they have appropriate measures taken around any creeks or rivers as it is highly likely that there will be flooding.
It's funny. It was only about 3 months ago when Melbourne dams were 29% full and really empty. Now, we're at 41% full and rising! At 41%, we're at the highest water storage level in 6 years! With this weekend's rain, we might well get to the 45% mark. Except for damage and potential loss of stock, I say bring it on! We really need the water.
Yeah, naturally. Well, you get to be last for a bit because I have to go walk Samson and then get started on the morning routine At least the night's almost over.
Just realised that we've chatted 6 pages today. I better log off as well and get DS and myself into BED!
North America should be getting up soon; and they can take over. Have a good walk with Samson.
Yay! Thanks for pointing out that it is so close! We're going to DCA tonight to see World of Color again. This time we're seeing it from the VIP section, so hopefully we'll have a better view than the last time!
