....to top it off, my DH said something last night [that was inevitable] that made me very angry....

.....like THAT'll do me any good....but thanks for the offer...;)

....okay, sooooooo, outta the blue, he says to me, "Wanna go to Kathy's [his sister] house on Saturday? We could leave early Saturday morning and get there late in the day." Originally, we planned on leaving early THURSDAY [next week] morning to spend some time at her home and then leaving EARLY Sautrday morning from N.C. to continue to WDW. So I asked him, "well, when would we be going to Florida?" He answers, "We could get there by MONDAY and leave WDW on Friday to get back home by Saturday." Okay, so lemme get this straight: he wants to drive 1,200 miles to spend LESS THAN 4 DAYS AT WDW???!!?!? :badpc: Not to mention, my DS and his GF are FLYING there on Saturday to arrive in the afternoon. What about THEM? :confused3 "Well, -- will be there and we could catch up with them later..." I said that this was not gonna work, so he replied that I could go by myself and take -- with me and that he doesn't really wanna go anyway...WTH???!?! Inevitably, he does this EVERY TIME we have a vaca planned...

Sorry he's being a Putz, Kim...I guess I'm glad that we fly, if we drove, we'd never get there the day we were supposed to, Fran would always be pulling stuff like that.

If she could take care of herself, she would be sending me on my own all the time!

1. Answer No I don't want to go to Kathy's house on Saturday..we already have our plans....So Kim what happened in the past when "Prince Charming" pulls this silliness ?

...we wind up going, with him literally kicking and screaming; then he mumbles and is sometimes a wet blanket...

...and that's it too - doesn't he realize that his sister is expecting us on Thursday [late afternoon] and they've already made plans also??

Hmmm, any chance you & his sister can tell him to stop being a brat & she is looking forward to seeing you all on Thurs AS PLANNED ?? If not I'd leave his cranky a$$ home

...there IS a part of him that, deep down, really does wnat to go, but he's such a workaholic....plus, he just got involved with another work project and he doesn't want to leave it - he's anxious to get started on it right away...

I'm thinking he very much needs to let someone else be in control and actually craves it since he has to be so responsible in his work life.so he fights every step of the way....he needs to learn to relax but there's nothing I can tell you about him that you don't know yourself. So did he say anything yet today about the plans? Would he really really want you to go without him ?

:grouphug: I hope that you're hanging in there and not letting this situation spoil the fun of preparation and the anticipation of your holiday!

He'll only be away for what? 1 week or 10 days tops? Unless he's the lynchpin of the project, just remind him that it can wait. Remember, work isn't going to be holding his hand taking care of him if he is sick. They will just send some flowers to you and his colleagues may do a whip around to get a card.

I've had two very sad and depressing wake-up calls lately involving acquaintances...
1. My 10 year old son's best friend at school. His dad passed away about 8 weeks ago very suddenly. He contracted meningococcal and was gone within a 2 - 3 hour timeframe.

2. A work colleague - her husband was in Italy cycling before spending some time watching the Tour de France about 2 - 3 weeks ago. He went down one of those Italian hills on his bike, probably a little bit too quickly and crashed into a car. I believe he died at the scene.

You take care of yourself and just remember - Life's too short not to take time out for yourselves!

agree with all of what Sharon said (Hey Aussie) and the expression that I have heard ALL my life "No one ever lay in their death bed and wished they had spent more time at work"

(Condolences Sharon DS handling it ok?)

Thanks! Yes, he and DH went to the funeral and it was very sad. Here's the irony - I wish I could have gone but I was finishing up a project with my old client and had too much to do at work; so I couldn't make it!

It is ironic but the difference is you wanted to go so I don't think that really counts, your thoughts were certainly with them ...glad DS is handling it. Its hard when the realities of life hit so young.
