Where is everybody else?

Alison was on earlier...not sure where she went to.
Rod's had to turn into a pumpkin.
Queenie's doing some of her birthday celebrations today.
Not sure where Dana and Skiiingfast are....just leaves you and me.

How are you and the family?

We're well. Life is pretty ordinary at the moment, which is nice. DH and I are busy with work, DS is busy with school and activities and at the weekend, we just hang out together. It's also heading into winter and getting pretty cold.

Strange to hear about you having winter and its just going to start summer real soon. Do you guys all go to the market together? Is that where you do all your shopping?

We used to go to the market all together but DS decided he liked the extra sleep-in on the Sat morning. So, I'm heading to the market and am there by 8 am in the morning. I meet some friends of mine and we do our shopping. We usually look at the fruits and split boxes of fruit that are in season.

Then we meet DH and DS for breakfast at about 9 am at our favourite cafe.

I normally shop at the market every fortnight. I pick up all my meats, fish, chicken and deli/cheese items at the market. Aside from the choice and freshness, it is also cheaper than buying these items at the supermarket.
I will also buy fruits and vegetables at the market. But these only last the week; not the fortnight. On the non-market weeks, we will go to the supermarket and get the fruit and veg from there.

What about you? Where do you get your groceries from?

Just the plain old grocery store. The have a market for fruits and veggies but it is quite far and I really dont want to drive that far. Not much choice like you have.

Page turner.

If I really wanted to, I could shop at the local safeway. The Vic Market is about a 20 - 30 minute drive away on a Saturday morning...and it is nice to be able to have that sort of choice within a reasonable distance from me.

We also have the Farmer's Market that goes round to the various suburbs in Melbourne and there is one that comes within 5 minutes of me once a month. Problem is that the prices at the Farmer's Market are really high, even higher than the supermarket....so I never end up buying anything. I'm all for helping and supporting the farmers....but price gouging is something that I don't like.

We have a safeway, Raleys, Belair, Nugget and Walmart. The cheapest is Safeway and Walmart but I have to drive a distance for them as well. I dont like price gouging either. Its bad enough grocery costs have risen beyond belief. I use coupons and save quite a bit

Shopping in Oz is a bit different. We don't have 'coupon' shopping but every week, the supermarkets will issue brochures with weekly specials. The specials change and are different from supermarket to supermarket. We tend to keep an eye out on the items we like and if they are on special, we stock up.

We also shop at Costco for things like toilet paper, detergent and dry foods.

We also don't have things like member's discount at the supermarkets either.

Groceries have also risen beyond belief here too as well.
