BF got some software I think??? to run a complete 'backup' of his ipod...
It just read it as a HDD...so he copied about 80GB from his ipod to laptop.

If he has a Mac, there are shareware programs that will do it. I have a PC, which means I have to pay for a program or just keep the trial and do it over and over and over and over. The program I downloaded will transfer 10 songs at a time, make you wait a minute, and then do it again. I have roughly 3100 songs and am already over a third of the way there. So, yeah, time consuming and a pain in the neck, but better than paying for it.

He's a PC man... Pain in the backside.....and a DELL no less....sigh
He did the whole thing at once. Was rather amusing as there were FB updates as it progressed. He was terrified of losing the lot

What kind of iPod does he have? I know that with a regular iPod, you can just enable disk mode and pull it all off based on that. iPod Touch doesn't allow that, which is the annoying thing.

Where are you moving so much stuff to? Filling another house?

My FIL died about a year and a half ago. His house has sat pretty much as it was when he died. The only difference is that we brought a bunch of our crap over for temporary storage. We had been holding swing band rehearsals there until March. Once we found a new location we started to get ready for the estate sale. We have literally a ton of stuff to get rid of. We are bringing stuff to his house to sell. We are taking the stuff we want to keep and either putting it in storage or taking it home. It's like that little puzzle with 15 numbers and 16 spaces. We have to move things to make space for the other stuff. Now most of our boxes are over there, we need to unpack them so that their contents look like they were in the house all along.

We're also shredding and tossing papers that date back to the 80s.

Is anyone else having problems with getting this thread to load?

I definitely had trouble posting. I tried to post the above reply before I left the house, and it evidently never hit.

AHHH...might be that.
It's a classic. A silver one that is thinner than my 'classicer' chunky classic but not a touch.

Must have done that...
