You may want to start a new thread at this point indicating that you are looking for Priceline bidding strategies. You might get a few more responses--right now, based on your title, you're only going to get help from people who know something about Washington, DC.

We stayed at the Hilton--it was very nice and the metro is right there! We had a "view" of the metro which the girls were fascinated with.

Hampton Inn--I think you will get breakfast--so if the cost is better, I would definitely go there.

The commute into the city is not bad at all.

If you have a car--your options are wide open and you can look at hotels that are in close vicinity to metros with parking. Not the same ease of just hopping on the metro--but it might save you a few dollars.

Crystal city is near the pentagon. Beautiful mall at that metro stop . (IMHO--not much pretty malls where I live--so I thought it was nice).

I think I posted this on the last thread, but the Embassy Suites in Old Town Alexandria is great, plus they offer a free breakfast buffet.

It is also right across the street from the Metro. The Hilton is just across the street from the Embassy Suites, well kind of diagonal.

We have also stayed at the Sheraton Suites in Old Town, and loved it there. No breakfast, but the beds were to die for! They have shuttle services that will take you around town, say to the metro station, etc. There is also this little restaurant across the street called the Royal Rest... OMG they had the best breakfast buffet, I've ever eaten. They had made to order omelets... the best one I have ever had!!
