last pictures of the 2010

THanks,, for sharing. Looks, like you all had an AWESOMEtime!!

Where was the Pochontas event?? Is this something that is open all year long??

Thank you all for looking! I love showing disney pictures and I think most of our friends and relatives are over it.

The Pocahontas thing was at animal kingdom where the Pocahontas show used to be. In Camp Minnie Mickey before you get to the Lion King show. But it wasn't the "forest friends" show. I think this version of it was just for the holidays. They tried for a while calling it the "good times gathering spot" and having character greetings down there, but the last few times we've been it has been inconsistent. Sometimes they will have it open as a place for training new "friends of characters" who are just starting out. That is completely hit or miss. My understanding is that it is completely unpredictable, if there are some trainees who are a certain size to be a friend of a character and that character is available then they may pop up for on the job training. We saw that once over the summer, saw the country bears and some other characters there. This was different, and I think just for the holidays. Basically, when we went in (my daughter and I, my son didn't want to go) Pocahontas was on the stage telling a story, using people from the audience to tell the story. The story was as if it was a native American legend. And there were several characters sitting in the audience listening to the story. It was really cute. They'd nod and clap and play along. My daughter got to sit next to Meeko. Then after the story, a DJ got up on the stage and had the sort of standard "Disney World DJ party" with those line dancing sorts of songs, if that makes sense. There were also a lot of games the characters were playing. This was early in the day and there weren't many people there, and I don't think it was on the guide maps or anything so it was pretty empty. I think it was something they are just doing for the holidays to give people stuff to do to thin the crowd out. It was a blast for my daughter though! All the kids there got a lot of extended character attention, beyond the typical wdw photo and autograph but more formalized than a disneyland sort of game of chase and tag, if that makes sense. These weren't characters with friends in training, imho, they were very wonderful with the kids.

Great pics, in all the many trips I have never encountered Thumper before.
