If someone comes to your front door saying they are conducting a survey on
Elk or Deer ticks and asks you to take your clothes off and dance around
to shake off the ticks, do not do it!

IT IS A SCAM - they only want to see you naked...

I wish I'd gotten this yesterday. I feel so stupid now.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

WOW !! everyone looks as busy as me!!!

Good luck with the Olympics coming up. We are working here getting our athletes ready.

A.J. competed last Thursday. It was a very sentimental day all around!

DH walked in the opening ceremonies. They had the law enforcement line up by rank and DH was lined up fourth for the entire county (after two chiefs and the sheriff) so that was awesome to see. He's waited along time to hold a high rank and I'm so proud of him! For the opening ceremony they played "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood and I started crying.

Just as they started playing the song I looked over to the other end of the field (the olympics were held at the university so they started on one end of the field and walked around to the stands) - anyway, I looked to the other end of the field and DD was walking in. I knew she wouldn't miss it for her brother's sake. She walked over to me. Everyone was in the stands but I always stand on the track to take pics and then I share the pics with the athletes whose families couldn't make it and with the parks & rec department which puts on the olympics.

After the law enforcement officers lined up the head of parks and rec made a few comments and then said that they were going to dedicate the olympics to a very special athlete who had passed away just that morning. I stood there waiting to hear the name thinking it must have been one of our older athletes. (We have athletes from 10 - 72 in our county.) She said the name and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I put my head back and just started crying so hard. Here I was facing about 50 officers and I couldn't stop crying. :sad1: The athlete was a 19 year old boy that we knew with Down Syndrome. We had just seen him at the movies two weeks before and his sister had just gotten married five days before. All I could think about was A.J. How hard that would be. This boy had been born with heart problems (as so many with Down Syndome - but we were blessed because A.J. was was born perfectly healthy) and he had many operations. At first his parents were told he wouldn't live past 2, then 5, then 10, then 15, then 20. They felt lucky to have him as long as they did.

Whew - looks like I'm long winded this morning. Sorry.

Anyway, A.J. won a gold in the softball throw and two silvers in track events. And then they got to go to the Olympics in the next county over the next day and he got a silver and a bronze!!! :cool1: He really had fun and he's so proud of his medals.

Next year our county will be hosting the regional olympics, which will include five counties.

Gotta take the boys to school and get some groceries. But I'm off today so I'll be back later.

Oh Kathy-It sounds like it was a nice family day-sorry to hear about the sadness of the dedication ceremony

So how did it go with DD and DH????:scared:

Glad to hear that AJ did so well!!! :cheer2:

Good morning Kim!

How's everything going for the new house??

I hope it's going well-the Loan is at the Underwriters and that process can take up to 1-2weeks for final approval

so.... we sit here and wait-this is the nerve wracking part!!!!!:crazy2:

kathy I cry when I hear that song too, and I'm so glad that DD was there!! I'm so glad she didn't let AJ down like that!!

 I'm so sorry to hear about him passing kathy! I know it had to be hard for you to hear:hug:

:wave2: hi everyone :wave2: Glad you got an appointment Kathy and sorry about your day Kelli :scared1: and just for you Pam ;) ---> :cool1:

well, now both my kids are sick :headache: they have yucky coughs...DD is much worse. I think she got sick again from being at school for 1 day and then DS is catching it  oh well, thankfully they are at Mama's today...I didn't want to not come into work, again.

Sorry to hear that both the kids are sick Lyn. I hope they're doing better today! :wizard:

Today has already been one of those days where you just want to walk out the door and not look back....oh well, I am sure everyone feels like that....daily :rolleyes1 :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

::yes:: "Daily" is the key word there!

Can I ask you guys to keep my FIL in your thoughts and prayers.

DH just called and they have admitted his Dad to the hospital. He is still having problems with his heart. :sad1:

Thoughts and prayers coming your way Kelli!

How is your FIL doing today? And how is DH holding up??

Oh Kathy-It sounds like it was a nice family day-sorry to hear about the sadness of the dedication ceremony

It was a nice day Kim. It was hard to hear about this young boy, especially since we had just seen him. Our kids are all about the same age...their oldest DD graduated with our DD. They knew each other but weren't really "friends." Then this boy and A.J. were only a year apart. And then their youngest and Andrew were only 2 weeks apart! She was the type of friend that I would talk to whenever I saw her and we could pick up where we left off years ago and compare what the kids have been doing. I had seen them at the movies on the 13th. (She told me that her DD was getting married in about a week and I told her that our DD was getting married that day. :sad2: )

So how did it go with DD and DH????:scared:

Well, I'm still not really sure. DH hasn't said much at all about their conversation. He told me that he did tell her how disappointed he was and they discussed why. But when she left he made sure to tell her that he still loves her!

I asked her how it went and she said not as well as she expected. I asked her if that means that she doesn't feel welcome to come home again or if it just means that she/they are going to have to work harder on their relationship. She said it means that she's going to have to work at it a lot harder than she expected she would.

So I think you about covered it with :scared:

Glad to hear that AJ did so well!!! :cheer2:

Thanks!!

Oh, I hate the waiting part! But just remember we're all waiting here with you! :grouphug:

But yesterday was the appraisal(still waiting to hear about that) And today is the Home inspection :thumbsup2

Those are the two parts I always hate!

at least they talked it out and each other knows how the other feels. I'm glad he made sure to let her know he still loves her, and THANK GOD she realizes she's gonna have to work on it. She's not walking around with her head in the sand. I'm sure they will both work on it and things will work out:hug:

Hello all....is this just kind of a chat thread?

Pretty much now:rotfl: most of us have been here for awhile, and have become friends. so yeah, but everynow and then we do try to be last:rotfl:

Like now!! LAST!

Hey Kathy:cutie: Did you have you appointment already?

Yep, went yesterday afternoon! They took xrays and the ortho doc said he doesn't see any fracture. He still said there may be a stress fracture that just isn't showing up on a regular x-ray, that would only show up on an MRI, but he doubts it. He thinks there may be some tendonitis but feels that the majority of the pain is still from gout! He gave me a cortisone injection (in the top of my foot around the base of the big toe - we won't discuss that). He said that it would stay pretty numb for a few hours, which it did, and that I should get relief in one to two days. Right now it feels a little better. (Actually, I think it would feel a lot better if it weren't for the bruising and soreness where he put the shot.) So, I am very optimistic. I had to have cortisone shots before, once in my shoulder and twice in my foot for another problem - and the relief was unbelievable! So that's what I am hoping for.

I did ask him if I was doing any damage to my foot by walking on it so much and he said no, which made me feel a lot better. He said that it would keep hurting and the pain may get worse but I was not doing any long term damage if it was just a gout flare-up.
