I thought I'd finish up my "trip report" so that you all would know what I had gone through....then I'm gonna put it all behind me and start moving forward, no matter how slowly!
Day 5, Monday, 3/5
The urologist came in to see me first thing in the morning. He said that the game plan was to insert a stent into my left kidney (surgery) to hopefully help the stone pass. If the stone didn't pass then the next option would be lithotripsy but they couldn't do that until the infection was gone and Friday would be the earliest they could schedule it. He said that they would do the surgery later in the afternoon and I would probably be out of my room no more than 90 minutes.
They took me to surgery between 5 and 5:30. Next thing I remember was waking up and asking where I was going. They told me they were taking me to ICU. It was 9:30 p.m.
They had started the surgery and realized how bad the infection was so they spent a lot of time trying to drain the infection from the kidney. I was septic. The doctor had already called Allen and let him know what was going on.
