He may end up really liking it out there and decide to stay.

I hope so-the 1st month is always the hardest-til you get all unpacked and get to become familiar with the town,so well see-it might be a great life experience for him!!!!

well-he says as we are pulling a box of chili out of the micrpowave still on fire-ashes going everywhere-well it said it was microwavable!!!!

so he reads the lable-OH PLACE IN BOWL AND THEN MICROWAVE!!!!! I swear I'm going to Kill him yet

Now that I know my microwave is OK-I can see it as a bit of an" I love Lucy Show" episode-just it's my life and he's gotta GO!!!!

Here's all the food that we're fixing for the reception:

Sweet and sour meatballs
Swedish meatballs
Baked Ziti
Spinach Dip with bread for dipping
Veggie tray with ranch dressing
Fruit tray with strawberry yogurt dip
Cheese balls
Tortilla wraps
Mini quiches
Spinach pinwheel bread (someone else is making)
Sloppy joe tarts (someone else is making)
Ham and swiss rolls
Sandwich triangles (pimento cheese, egg salad, tuna and chicken salad)
Filo puffs filled with walnut chicken salad


Then on the cake table there will be a few trays of assorted homemade cookies (my friend's gift to them) and some tarts and desserts (my gift to them). I was going to make a tray of the little tarts that look like miniature pies. Well, yesterday when I went to the store as I walked in they had a cart of those chocolate mini dessert cups that they had just marked down and put on buy one get one free! I snatched them up. I was so excited! So I'm going to do an assortment of those filled with mousse and then maybe a few of the tarts too.

I just hope it turns out really nice for him. He is so sweet. Believe it or not I've never even met his fiance!

You know how when someone in a workplace gets married they usually take up a collection for a gift? I remember a couple of years back our previous manager was getting married and I was in charge of collecting. I think we ended up getting him a $50 gift card to a restaraunt 'cause no one liked him and no one wanted to give more than a dollar. Well, when they started collecting for a gift for this co-manager everyone gave, and gave generously. Our district manager threw in a $50!! We even had the vendors that come into the store (that deliver coke and pepsi and such) giving to the cause!!! We ended up getting him a $600 gift card to Lowes for them to get a washer and dryer!!!! He was so thrilled he cried.

Isn't it nice when so many people pull together to make something happen like this???? Everyone just thinks the world of this guy!

That is such a wonderful story Kathy! That is one thing I miss about living in a true small town.

But then there's the nosy neighbors that I don't miss!

It's hard to believe that DH managed to work undercover here for 5 years without anyone figuring out what he did. Which is good 'cause once one person figures it out tongues wag until everyone knows!
