EXACTLY! I try to protect my kids to the best of my ability at home. When I send them to school I expect the teachers to protect them to the best of their ability in my absence.
So many people have posted on that thread the importance of parents teaching kids not to post personal info on the internet. DH and I have talked until we are blue in the face about stuff like that but it comes down to two things....
Kids tend to listen to others about lessons like that before they'll listen to their parents. If we've said don't give out personal info but the teacher doesn't follow through then it sends a mixed message to the kids.
DS really didn't consider the stuff that he posted "personal info" simply because he didn't realize it would end up being linked to him personally.
I didn't post this on the other thread but DS had on his website that his "dad is a sheriff's deputy and he is awesome!" He put it on there simply because he's proud of his dad but didn't realize that was too much personal info! DH worked 5 years undercover narcotics. Do you not think he's got plenty of enemies. Plus, what a great kidnap target this kid may be!
