oh Tracy...I hope you get it

and if that lady isn't the one to interview you or decide if you get the job, who cares what she thinks. But you may need a good answer for your interview (if you have one)...like :
The commute was less than desireable for me at the previous job. This is one of the reasons I am so happy at the possibility of working at your agency, since it is a wonderful commute for me.
After being at my previous job for 6 years, I decided that I would like to work at something that would be more challenging (more responsibilities, better utilize my skills (and know what they are....working with people, organizing, etc.) and where I would have an opportunity to further improve my skills (go to school, training, etc.) and where there would be a possibility to advance in the agency (if there is that possibility).
I personally never say anything bad about a previous job or boss in an interview...since I feel like the interviewer may think I was the problem at my current/past job or maybe I don't get along with people. I try to keep it positive, like I am looking for something better and this is it...so after you hire me I plan on staying for a while becuase your company is so darn great
Oh yeah, and if they ask what you did while you weren't working....you could say something like, at the time I left, temporarily I assisted with the needed care of a family member (I wouldn't explain that is was your sister, they may think it was an older, ill family member or something) and if they ask more details I would say that I prefer to not discuss it further, but that since then the situation has resolved itself and I don't anticpate a similar situation in the future. ....or you could say that you were pursuing attending classes, but upon seeing this opportunity you decided to apply for the job with the hopes of working fulltime there and attending classes parttime to improve yourself/increase your skills, etc.
oh, and my favorite question is when they first ask what is your best trait and what is your worst. I always say the same thing for both...to keep it positive and try not to say anything bad about yourself. Like, my best charataristic is that I am highly motivated. If I see something that needs to be done, I will do it. I am eager to learn new things and assist others when possible. My worst trait is that I am higly motivated (insert grin or laugh) and at times it seems I accomplish things too quickly (insert grin or laugh). or....I strive to complete my work in a timely manner with great quality. My worst trait is that I am timely and take great pride in what I do, so at times I may offer ideas, when appropriate, on new ways to accomplish tasks that may be more efficent or improve the quality of our service/product...but I only offer ideas and am receptive to doing things the way they have been done in the past if that is the established method. These are just ideas...you would need to think about your qualities and how they are an assest to the job you are appling for.
Sorry, really long....but just some ideas. I know a lot of people get nervous in interviews, especially for jobs they really want....
