all I know is it's a form of chicken pox. Poor thing it's supposed to be pretty painfull too, and it leaves scaring, so tell her to LEAVE IT ALONE!!!
Hi Tracy and Kayla. I am not positive, but I have known girls who have gotten shingles along their hairline, above their bangs and I had thought that sometimes stress can bring it on
I am not sure if that make it less contagious.
I think we are leaving to take our trash to the dump (DH just cleaned up some this morning
), to see Cars (finally
) and to stop at the store..... but, right now DH and DS are playing videos games...so hopefully we will get going

Causes
You can only get shingles (Herpes Zoster) if you have previously had chickenpox. After having chickenpox the virus lies dormant in the nerves, and shingles occurs when it is revitalised in one particular nerve to the skin, thus explaining the way it affects a clearly demarcated band of skin only.
Usually the cause is a decrease in your body's natural resistance, which may come through other infections, stress, being generally run down, or occasionally, when the body's immune defences are affected by certain drugs or other immune deficiencies.
Prevention
You cannot do much to avoid shingles. It is not caught from contact with someone with shingles or with chickenpox.
If you have shingles you should stay away from other people until the blisters have dried (usually about seven days), as there are virus particles in the blister fluid. The risk is that people who have not had chickenpox might catch that from you.
Those at particular risk are people whose immune system is not functioning normally (who are immunocompromised), as for example in people on steroids, chemotherapy for cancer or those with transplants or with AIDS, so do try to avoid contact with people in these categories if you have shingles.

I'll check back on here later!Tropical Storm Alberto, which stengthened between Sunday and Monday, is holding shy of hurricane strength. As of 4 p.m. CDT, Alberto's maximum sustained winds remained at 70 mph, 4 mph short of Category 1 hurricane strength.
Hurricane warnings were issued today for a portion of the Florida Gulf Coast. A hurricane warning means hurricane conditions may occur in the next 24 hours. The warning area covers the Gulf Coast from Longboat Key to the Ochlockonee River. A tropical storm warning has been extended northward to the Savannah River on the Atlantic Coast.
There is a slight chance that Alberto could reach minimal hurricane strength before making landfall around Taylor County, Florida by early Tuesday, but the storm seemed to weaken a bit on Monday afternoon.
Locally heavy rains may induce some scattered flooding but the general area has been very dry lately. Many locales will pick up 4 to 8 inches of rain with isolated 10-inch amounts possible. A storm surge of 8 to 10 feet above normal tide levels can be expected in the warned area which extends from Longboat Key to the Ochlockonee River. Isolated tornadoes are always possible with landfalling tropical systems.
