I saw her for about 5 minutes!

On Friday afternoon DD called and was in extreme pain and was doubled over. Her friend took her to the ER. Turns out she has a kidney and a bladder infection. Well, she had called me a little before midnight Friday night and I had told her to check in with me every time she got up and I told her to set her alarm to get up to take her medicine. She didn't call again so naturally I was getting worried. On the way home, since I was driving my own van and not riding the bus, I decided to detour (only added an extra three hours to my trip) and go to her apartment in Charlotte. I had been calling her cell phone every twenty minutes for hours and couldn't get her. You know what goes through a mom's mind....maybe she was in pain and couldn't move, maybe her fever came back and she needed help, maybe she had taken too many of the pain killers, you know how a mom's mind works overtime like that! Turns out she had been sleeping soundly from the pain killers and had her phone on vibrate so she never heard it! I'm glad I made the side trip because otherwise I would have kept worrying!

you would have worried the whole way home if you hadn't gone to check on her! Is she doing any better? sounds painfull!

I would have kept worrying and if I hadn't gone yesterday and still hadn't heard from her today then I would have ended up going down there today, which would have been six hours traveling time instead of the three extra yesterday.

She said it was very painful but she's feeling a lot better.
