:grouphug: That is wrong for the school to do :grouphug: Over a bag of chips is just crazy  These boys must be doing something else during the day that doesn't involve Andrew for them to get in trouble !!!

None of these kids are angels. (Except mine, of course! :lmao: No, seriously, I am honest enough to know my kids aren't angels but they're not little demons, either, which some of these kids are! The chips incident may be what brought it all to a head but I'm not going to allow them to use Andrew as a scapegoat for punishment that they need to be handing out for other incidents that may have gone on. Come on now, in-school or out-of-school suspension for smashing chips but nothing being done about stealing homework and lunches, copying answers (with threats if Andrew doesn't let them copy), etc???? The more I think about it the more I think this principal has gotten in trouble for something and is now trying to go backwards and cover her butt!

Yup! Sounds like butt covering too me!! Hopefully this can all be worked out so they won't take anything out on Andrew. Poor kid has been through so much this year already

That is what it sounds like-- a big cover up.

I just don't want your kids (or you) used as the scapegoat!!!

Is there a school board or school council to talk to ?

Since I posted my vent earlier I have been a very busy girl! :teeth:

1. I called the assistant school superintendent. Figured I'd get his voice mail but I actually got him and we talked for about half an hour. First, I explained the on-going problems and the fact that nothing has been done. I told him that I regret not having called him sooner and that I realize it's too late to anything about the problems but that since I have another son that still has to go to that school for two more years there I wanted to make sure that someone of higher authority than the principal knew that there had been on-going problems. (I know for a fact that he's been out there before for a meeting with another parent about her sixth grader being bullied by these same eighth graders that Andrew has had problems with!) Second, I wanted him to know how unprofessionally I felt this principal handled this situation and that she had no right to talk to me the way that she did or use the tone of voice that she did. And finally, I told him that it seems to me that the boys are finally moving forward. Andrew hasn't had any problems with being bullied for two or three weeks now, the boys are all starting to act a little different. A few boys were punished over some stuff (not the bullying but they were punished) so maybe they realized there are consequenses for doing wrong, maybe some of the others have seen those boys being punished and realized they didn't want to get in trouble, or maybe they're all just maturing a little. Whatever it is, they're at a point now where they're finally meshing and moving forward so now is when you want to make a big deal out of bullying (when it really isn't even bullying)??? Hello, can we say dumb! Let sleeping dogs lie! Okay, can you tell I'm after this principal now!!!!

2. I called the other mom. Seems there's a lot more to the story. Cody was in trouble for something earlier in the day and the principal threatened him with OSS. However, it was his word against the principal's word and she had no witnesses to what happened. She said he was lying. (I don't know what the incident was and don't want to!) Then the chips thing happened. Three girls went to her to tell her what happened. She talked to Cody and his version was different than the girls and he said they were just trying to get him in trouble. (Seems he recently "broke" up with this one girl and it was her and her two best friends.) The principal never even asked Andrew what happened. So, because of the earlier incident and the chips incident she gave Cody OSS as punishment. His mom forwarded my email to her to show her that Andrew and Cody had the exact same story over the chips, that Cody wasn't lying. The principal told me that this mom had gone into the office this morning. She hadn't.

I have decided that I am going to avoid the principal whenever possible. I just don't want to be in a situation to have to talk to her. She apologized on the phone for "infuriating" me and said that she realized that I had every reason to be mad at her. (To me, that right there said that she realized she was in hot water.) She said that she apologized for her tone and hoped that I would accept her apology. When I said nothing she said, "You will accept my apology, won't you?" I said, "Not right now I won't. I won't even consider it right now." I have to deal with her quite regularly since I am the PTSO treasurer but it will be strictly professional from now on.

Sorry for another long vent! Thanks for listening!!
