I think it was postive. We were there over 1 1/2 hours and explained all our concerns, the positive and negative things about the school and our concerns about our kids and our personal concerns and anger. Before we came she asked around to find out what happened. She admitted that they made a mistake and that she would have been very angry too. I think she sincerely felt bad about what happened to DS and how he feels. He has been there parttime and then fulltime for 2 1/2 years (we sent him parttime for one spring and then held him back a year since he is late born), so they really know DS and our family. DH also went into great detail about his concerns on how the kids act and lack of stronger consequences. She was very open to listening and admitted that sometimes you end up doing the same thing for years and also that because they are religious, they try to "save" and work with all the kids. I said that this is noble, but it is a problem when a few kids are adversly affecting other children....she was also very disappointed in that our DS may not graduate with the class or return, but I was clear that I will do what is right for my children. We talked for a while. I think in the end she was thankful that we told of our concerns and we were talking about ways that things could be improved. First, she is going to talk to the staff about what happened to DS. I think the teacher's aid felt really bad, she is a nice lady, but it was very poor judgement on her part. Today she seemed very remorseful and the director said they are going to monitor better when the kids go to the restroom. They are also going to monitor the playgroung better and reestablish zones in watching the kids. She also said that she will meet with their committee to discuss consequences when kids are naughty. So, DH and I decided that for the rest of the week our kids won't go there. My coworker helped me out and I am waitlisted on another school...but we are hoping that things will improve and DD can go back, since she likes it there. So, after a week I think DH is going to check and see if they implemented changes, if they didn't DD won't return. If they have and it is a better environment, she will go back. DS won't be going back there unless he wants to go back. Right now he doesn't which is fine.
