A challenge, huh? Well, I've got pork stew on the stove and I need to get clothes washed and packed for a trip tomorrow so I think I'm gonna be around here for a while tonight!

Ruh roh, I think I may lose this round. :teeth:

Backin' down already huh!?!?

Seriously though, I'd be glad to "share" last place with you. You can have a turn if you'd like! :teeth:

You scared me. :rotfl:

I hate to make you repeat yourself, as I'm sure you've already relayed this info, but where are you going?? :)

Not a pleasure trip, that's for sure. A very close family friend, that our kids refer to as Grandpa (he's the only Grandpa they've ever known since their real grandparents are gone) has cancer. He was told last Friday that they don't think he'll make it much more than two weeks to a month. We are going to say good-bye. We were there in the end of December and had planned to go back during spring break but we know now that we can't wait until spring break. So we are taking our boys out of school and driving up tomorrow. It's about 8 hours from here.

Sorry it's not the most pleasant reason but thanks for asking.

:( Awwww I'm really sorry about that. I remember a couple years ago taking our kids to say good bye to their Grandpa. Tough thing, but so glad we did. Drive safe.

Cool. :) We have been here for almost four years now. We really love it. Most of our weekend getaways have been to the coast. We went to Chimney Rock last summer. Oh my, I am soooo afraid of heights. :scared: Then in December we went to the Biltmore Estate and the Candlelight Tour. It was amazing. :goodvibes I would love to make move visits to the western part of the state.

We're up in the area known as "The High Country" of NC. We are about 20 miles from VA and only about 10 from TN. We're right outside of Boone, where Appalachian State University is. Our DD is in school in Charlotte, which is about three hours from here.

Boone sounds familiar. I think my husband has stayed there for a business trip. I want to go to Mt. Airey (sp), the place that Mayberry is modeled after.

I've heard of Mt Airey but have never been there.

I've never been to the NC coast either but I'm chaperoning my DS's class trip in May.

My husband and I are originally from Chicago, but then we lived near Springfield, MO for 13 years. I lived in Tampa for a couple of years as a kid. :)

I do! I have a friend that lives in Odessa and a Palm Harbor and I don't think either of those are very far from Holiday.

The only town I know of that is nearby is New Port Richey and Tarpon Springs where the Greek guys hang. ;)

I forgot this was a competition. :lmao:
