Hello all,

Nearly time to go and we're all drooling at the thought of seeing Disneyworld et al.

BUT,

As some of you may have read, i'm a keen photographer and will be carrying 35 mm camera and gear in rucksack at parks.

Question I never considered is where do I put this when getting on a ride like a rollercoaster where I can't carry it on ??

Please tell me there's some facility at each ride ...

Kul:confused:

There is no facility at the rides that "I" know of. I know, for instance, at Star Tours and Dinosaur, there is a mesh bag under your seats for any loose belongings. I think on Rocking Roller coaster, I put my bag on the floor and put the strap around my leg just in case. Now that I have a toddler again, we just leave everything in the stroller with the person sitting out of the big rides. All the other rides you can just put your stuff on the seat or set it one the floor.

Thanks for the reply but other than ride seperately, what do other photographers do ?

Mouse folk must have had this problem before and created an answer.

anymore answers ????

How big is your rucksack?? We usually use a backpack, standard school size or a large fanny pack. The camera goes on our shoulder, we don't carry extra lenses, just film. You can stick a backpack between your legs on all rides. You can rent a locker at the front of the park, but if you are lugging a bunch of camera gear you'll have to take it on the rides with you.

The bag is designed for camera and lens and so I think i'll have to leave it in a locker if they are sfe.

I have a 35m camera and I usually just take the camera with a telephoto lens and a couple of extra rolls of film. I never take a camera bag into the parks. I just wear it around my neck and I've never had a problem. But I also confess that I've never ridden Tower of Terror or the Rock-N-Roller coaster so I don't know what you would do then. It's my understanding that the roller coaster does go upside down. You can get a harness type camera holder that goes around your body but I've never talked to anyone whose tried it.

My DD took a backpack with her when we went to the parks last Feb. I carried a 35mm camera with me but just one lens. I put the camera into her backpack when we went on the rides. She just kinda hooked one of the straps around her leg and held it down between her legs. We went on the rides with it like that and never had any problems.

This may not answer the question. However, for parks and such, I tend to just bring the camera body and a wide-angle zoom lens (24-55mm). More than that is just unnecessary.

Maybe you want to bring at least a monopod for night-time photography.

I'm still contemplating in bringing a tripod for my upcoming trip. (I can no longer use a monopod, my hand shakes terribly).

I've gone on RNR and TOT with my bags, never have a problem. LIke other poster said, just hook a leg through a strap.

If we have the backpack with us we just take it right on the rides. We've never had a problem just hook your arm or leg through it.

On a side note I just read a statment from Homeland Security that said, film was being ruined by repeated exposers from the X-ray equipment now being used. Being an avid photograper I'm sure you have a lead lined bag if not I would get one. I wouldn't want you to get back to the UK and have nothing. Just a heads up. :firefight

Also remember that for everytime you bring a bag or backpack to the park you will have to wait in line to have it searched before you can go in. This can be a delay depending on how long the line is. Whereas at AK, MGM & MK if you have nothing to search there is a seperate entrance and you go right thru.

Hi,
I sure wish I could tell you there was a place to stash your gear, but, alas there is not. You will have to carry it on every ride you chose to experience.

I've had good luck using a fanny pack. I've carried my camcorder in it on the rides. I just turn it so it sits on my hip. Hasn't been a problem. Then it can go over the lap/seat belt or if there is a shoulder harness, as RnRC has, it gets turned sideways.
