This is my first attempt at a pre-trip report (or any trip report for that matter). I have read many reports and want to share my love of disney with all of the Dis'ers out there. My wife and I were married in November of 2004, we spent our Honeymoon at WDW and have gone back every year since. We actaully have a 7 day trip planned for October but that will be a seperate report as this one is going to be dedicated to the Last Minute trip that we planned for next weekend (August 10 -12).
The Who:
Me (A 28 year old borderline Disney Fanatic. I work in Minor League Baseball so most trips are always in the baseball off-season)
DW (A 23 year old Disney fan, though not as crazy as i am)
DFIL (This is his First Trip to the World)
DMIL (This is her First Trip to the World)
The What:
My wife and i have really wanted to take her parents to Disney World. We have been numerous times as has my wife's sister. As I mentioned earlier, i work in baseball so summer vactions are unheard of. Well, we just finished a 10 game homestand and the team is on the road for the next 12 days. When this happens in season our management gives us 3 day weekends. I found out that i have next Friday (August 10) off and immeditely click over to travelocity.com to check out thier last minute deals. I found a deal for Orlando from Nashville with a rental car for 4 people for $700. Pretty good right, well before i check out I googled for a travelocity promo code and found one that i saved an additional $50. To recap, 4 roundtrip flights from Nashville to Orlando (leaving Friday at 6:30am nonstop and returning 7:30pm on Sunday) and rental car for $650.
Now on to lodging for the trip:
Since we live a couple hours west of Nashville we are traveling to Nashville on Thursday after we get off work. We are staying a hotel near the airport so that we can leave the car there for the duration of the trip. $100 for the room. Once in Orlando we are staying off-site at Parc Corniche Condominium Suite Hotel. We have a 2 bedroom with 2 king beds room for $150 a night.
Almost all planned, Only thing left is the park tickets:
We purchased (On Friday Before the Price Increase
) 2 day base tickets with water park option.
The Plan:
Friday 8/10
Arrive at MCO @9:45am
Should be at Parc Corniche by 11:00am
Quick run to Wal-Mart (the one down from the Downtown Disney Entrance) for a few snacks and essentials
Go to Magic Kingdom for remainder of Day
Saturday 8/11
Go to Epcot (do future world)
Take a break and ride monorail around and show in-laws the Magic Kingdom Resorts
Go back to Epcot (do World Showcase & watch illuminations)
Sunday 8/12
Get up and check out
Go to Typhoon Lagoon
Go to Downtown Disney around 2:00pm
Leave for MCO around 5:00
Back in Nashville at 8:45pm
Home around 11:00pm
This will be the shortest trip and quickest planned trip that we have ever attempted. This one is relly all about the in-laws and DW and I are going back for a week at the end of October. I will keep you posted and have a bunch of pics when we return.
We just need some pixie dust
for good weather and manageable crowds so that we can do everything that FIL and MIL want to do as this very easily could be thier first and only trip. DW and i really wnated to do this for them.
