I am trying to help a friend who has just decided she wants to take her kids to WDW *next week* So, we are about to have a crash-course planning session. What I'm trying to figure out is this: At this late date, is there any Fast Pass+ advantage to buying tickets as a room package? Will the tickets automatically show up on MDE and can she start trying to make FP+ reservations at that time? Or, is it so late that she'd have to wait until she gets there to start making FP+ reservations?

Thanks so much!

They will show up on MDE right away and she could then make Fastpass immediately

Why would she want to wait at a kiosk Ifshe doesn't have to?

Room only or package makes no difference. You are inside 60 days and as long as you link them in MDE it will be the same result. Im told as long as you do the tickets "will-call" and don't have them mailed, you can link them at the time of purchase.

Just reading this gives me a panic attack. :scared1:

Pshaw… I planned a trip once because on a Tuesday night, I found on outstanding airfare. We were in the MK on Sunday afternoon! You can do this- just don't get into the "aw, too bad you can't get into X" mindset!

Which is cheaper- room only with separate tickets, or a package? If you can't get ADRs for her, or she doesn't want them, highlight the CS/QS locations that her family might want to try. Obviously they won't get FP+ for A&E, but there should be plenty of availability for SOME of the attractions; they'll have to do rope drop if there are some that she really has to have, but I bet they can have a terrific vacation next week!!

Honestly? It's kind-of freeing to think about doing a last-minute, off the cuff Disney trip. I am so tired of stressing about plans for next October, and really miss the days of "just going" to Disney World!

For those who can do a last minute trip with having a complete mental anxiety flush, I tip my hat to you. I would go insane if I tried it - we leave tomorrow (my ticker is off by a couple of days) and I have been planning since March.

To the OP: I would still do the package. As PP have stated, you can immediately link to MDE and reserve. some of the ideal options and wait times might not be available since it's so close to her arrival, but it is definitely better than waiting at the kiosks.
Hope she has as magical time!:wizard:
