Last minute trip resort advice: Pop, AoA or POR?

We've decided to take a short 4 night trip over President's Day Weekend before our APs expire. It will be myself, DH and DD7. Our resort options are Pop (preferred room), Art of Animation (Little Mermaid room), or POR (preferred room). The price difference is negligible so that's not a factor. Out of these we've stayed at Pop twice, just one night both times (we usually come in late and stay one night there before moving to our main resort). I typically choose the highest tier resort we can afford for the trip, however in this case I'm trying to decide which theming will appeal more to my daughter. Opinions please!

To answer your question, which will be more appealing, AoA Little Mermaid will surely appeal. However, if you can get a Royal Guest Room at POR within your budget, that might be best. DD will get Princess and the Frog theming and you will all have the added benefit of having access to the boat to DS. Enjoy!:mickeyjum

Are the preferred rooms Royal Rooms or is that a different category?

The preferred rooms are the buildings in the Alligator Bayou section, which are not Royal Rooms. Royal Rooms are a separate booking category.
Personally, we LOVE POR, we think it's a gorgeous resort! For a seven year old girl, how much will she use the pool? The pool slides at both POR and POFQ are pretty cool (you can use either pool if you are staying at either Port Orleans resort), and the new kids splash area at POFQ is supposed to be great too, haven't seen it myself.

The preferred rooms at POR are in the Alligator Bayou section. The royal rooms are located in two of the mansions. The royal rooms are a different booking category. But check it out. A standard royal room might be cheaper then a preferred room.

She loves swimming and water slides, so that is definitely one thing in favor of POR.

As a seven year old, I would have *loved* the theming at POR over AoA, but I was in love with southern style architecture back then. My kids are the same way, they aren't fans of kid-oriented, cartoon/colorful themes and tend to enjoy more adult/staid places (they LOVE YC's lobby, for example). So we'd go with POR all the way, and if not for the theming, then for the larger, more comfy (IMO) rooms (double sinks in bathroom, queen beds, little murphy bed for tots which is cool, in room coffee pot, etc.).

Another thing to keep in mind is that there's a sit-down restaurant at POR if you're interested, a boat to Disney Springs for shopping/entertainment/more sit-down dining, Ye Haa Bob in the indoor lounge, horse drawn buggy rides, and you can walk to POFQ for beignets.

But you know your family and whether or not you'd be fine with double beds, and you know your daughter and if she'd be happy at POR or if she's a Little Mermaid fan who would adore the theming at AoA.
