last minute trip!! Jan 4-7 - crowds? Tips?

So we have a chance to go to WDW for two days, Jan 3 and 4 !! We'd arrive on the 2nd and check out the 5th. Looking at on-site resorts!

What will the crowds be like? Will there still be huge Christmas crowds? Any attraction strategies for a two-day park hopper, like what park to do when? We'll want to do things at MK, Epcot & Studios. Probably not AK.

Any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I think crowds will still be very large that weekend, I'm sorry to say. Most kids won't be going back to school until Monday, January 5.

Hollywood Studios has early Magic Hours on Saturday, so that would probably be the park to avoid -- unless you want to take advantage of the early (8-9am) hour when the park will be quite uncrowded.

If you want to do that, you might hop to Epcot for the late afternoon and evening, and then do Magic Kingdom on Sunday. The only problem with that plan is if you want to do both Soarin and Test Track at Epcot, you will have a long wait for one of them, because you are only allowed a FP+ for one of those two attractions.

We go around that time. Good news is over the weekend you still might get to see Christmas and Splash Mountain. It's likely to be busy though.

But, not as busy as that week between Christmas and New Year's.

Weather could be unpredictable.

We have been this week every year for the past 6 years. The crowds will still be large on Saturday the 3rd but after that they will fall dramatically. Most kids go back to school on Monday Jan 5th so they will leave on that Sunday.

We went this past January, starting on the first Monday after the New Year. It was pretty dead. The weekend will still be busy though. It was also really really cold.

I know the parks seem to be getting busier every year, but two years ago, my husband and I and our sons' families all went from the Jan 1st to the following Sunday. I'm a teacher, so my husband and I flew home with the kids on that Sunday (maybe the 5th?), and my sons/DILs stayed for a few more days. They raved about the empty parks. Yes, we were jealous. It was VERY crowded during that week after NY, but probably slightly better than the week before.

Wow, busy time at least for the DISers lol And YAY for the weather!! Hope it stays that way!

Ok, so can someone please give me a quick summary of the 7 Dwarfs Mine Ride? I know nothing about when or how to do it -- other than knowing it's one of our first priorities.

We will be there the 3rd to the 10th. The parks will not be very crowded after Sunday. Perfect time to go!!

We will be there as well.Checking inn on the 5th at Pop 'till 12th. We have been 3 times around that period and crowds were so so. As for the weather, one year we could still swim at 10 Pm, and the year after we had to wear a coat...But for us Québécois it is always better than what we have home
Better to be wearing a coat in Disney than frezzing at the office...
