Last minute things to do before trip?

I second the toilet tip and the get-rid-of-the-perishables-in-the-fridge tip!

Just wanted to give a big thumbs up to the PP for the tip about notifying your CC companies and bank about your trip. We had one trip out of country when we forgot to do this, and had the cc company deny a purchase!:scared1: It was quickly resolved with a phone call (a very expensive international call).

Which brings me to another tip: on your list of important phone numbers, don't forget your cc emergency number for lost/stolen cards.

Also, on the home front, put a hold on newspaper delivery.

Even though you stop the mail ask a neighbor or relative to check and be sure no one has stuck anything in your door, such as an Avon Book, or a notice that a package has been attempted delivery. This tells a crook that no one has been in or out of the door in several days.

Set timers on not only lights but also on a radio or tv so there is noise in the house.

Shut off the ringers on landline phones so someone outside cannot hear it ringing in an empty house.

Disconnect tvs, pcs, dvd players, dvrs etc to avoid power surges or lightening strike damage.
