Last-Minute Restricted Stateroom Discounts

I've been eyeing up this 3-Day Bahamian cruise for some time now and was going to pull the trigger on it today. The VGT GTY rate popped up and I grabbed it. The rate saves me almost $500 (for 2 adults) over the category I was going to book! and is still a better rate than even an inside stateroom. (And since it's our first cruise, I don't know any better regarding what rooms are best anyways.)

WOOHOO! :cool1:

Have to update my tag with a new countdown calendar!!!!!

I agree with your reasoning!!! First trip...just go and enjoy wherever your cabin is!!

If you booked the VGT were you happy with your cabin assignment - Also if anyone booked two cabins how lucky is it to get cabins next to each other.

I want to book a VGT for an upcoming cruise. I contacted DU a couple of days ago but have not heard back yet. I'm wondering how this works with TAs. I know you cannot put a hold on these categories but is it different for TAs? The reason I ask is because it has never taken DU this long to email me back with the reservation info so I could pay. I'm getting antsy since I already booked the airfare & I don't want to lose out.

Our VGT GTY cruise is 2/2/12. I'll be sure to write back and let future cruisers considering a GTY how it all went down.

As for two cabings GTY, I have heard mixed results.

Now, if I could only convince DCL to do a special Palo brunch on my 3-day...

I booked VGT for Dec 10 on Nov 3 and got my cabin assignment yesterday. I am THRILLED! We paid for Verandah with restrictions and got full Verandah for less than the price of an inside. We are very flexible so this is a great deal for us!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I'm really interested to hear from those who sailed with a "VGT" category room--what room they were given and whether or not they were happy with it. Just booked today for the beginning of January, in the VGT category. Really, the price was so great that it doesn't matter as long as I'm on the boat and able to have morning coffee on my verandah! But I'm curious, just the same........does anyone have any feedback on this? Thanks.

Did you see the post right before yours? They seemed very happy with their VGT booking. I don't believe you get a less desirable cabin with the VGT bookings....they are just more restrictive with no cancellations or changes.

I booked 2 VGT cabins for the Magic's 10/1 sailing. We got our cabin assignment about two weeks before the trip and ended up with 2 cabins right next to each other, both on deck 5 just around the corner from the theatre. I liked my location because there was not a lot of foot traffic. All in all I would absolutely book VGT again

Anyone else recently back who booked I/O/VGT ?? Just checking to see what rooms you were assigned

Are these available only directly through Disney or can you book it through a TA and get a TA OBC and the Disney Visa OBC in addition?

I booked mine through a TA but I had to make the payment right away. I did receive the OBC from my TA. I'm not sure about the Disney Visa OBC.

Yes, just make sure your TA knows you are using a Disney Visa so you get the right code applied for that OBC.

We booked VGT for Jan 8 4night dream about a month ago...still waiting (not too patiently) on cabin assignment...

We are on that sailing as well - probably booked about a month ago too
I am so not the kind of person who normally does something like that so the GTY aspect of it is KILLING me !!! How often do you check your reservation ? I just looked at the DCL website and it is only showing the 1 Bedroom concierege as the only room avail .... they must have assigned us something ...

I usually can contain myself to only checking 1-2 times a day, but sometimes it is more....Hope I get an assignment before we leave...but still excited anyway...

We also booked a VGT on this January 8 Dream sailing--booked on the Monday after Thanksgiving. Still no room assignment though. I also saw on the cruise website that there were no verandah rooms availble so yes, they MUST have made the assignments....now if they would just share them with us.....please?

On Dec, 4th we booked the 12/8/11 cruise.
We received a cat 4A room on deck 10 room 10572 mid ship.

We are going to book VGT for Feb 9th..

Porter, wrote our room on luggage tags, we got from them at the curb.

I checked DCL.com to see room number. ;)
