Last minute reservation and waitlists success

Last Monday I booked for next week a standard bwv 1 bedroom for 2 nights and an okw hospitality 1 bedroom for 1 night. Wednesday I waitlisted a bcv 1 bedroom to replace the okw night. By Saturday I matched. We have often had this happen for last minute hi in reservations and waitlists, isn't it great.

I just added a WL in an attempt to add 2 nights to upcoming res. not holding my breath since the dates are already 11 days out & it's such a busy week, but you never know.

I just got an email that a waitlist for BWV standard view I set up on Monday matched so I went in to set up a waitlist for another couple of nights and when I did the search the two nights were available so booked them!

Now I have a waitlist for 1 night in a AKV value room. But I said 'no borrowing' and since the other days all came, I've got 6 points in this years use year.

So, how do I tell them I want to buy 3 points if the night comes through?

Maybe I shouldn't take chances and resubmit the waitlist and tell them to borrow them.

You can't. You can only buy the one time use points at the time of the reservation and can't waitlist and purchase them.

Kat is correct. If your waitlist fills and you have told them "no borrowing" and don't have enough current points, they automatically cancel your waitlist.

I have a waitlist for ONE NIGHT at OKW for a 3 bedroom villa. I have been waiting for the ONE NIGHT to come off for over a month. We leave next Wed for a week. Our Saturday night stay is the one that is waitlisted with our back up plan being at Saratoga for a 2 bedroom. What do people think the chances are of the ONE NIGHT opening up...lol. I am so stressing over having to move one night with all the kids ;(

Last trip I had a waitlist, (Feb 2014) and it came through but MS called me because they were unclear about how to fill it. I didn't need to purchase points but I did need to cancel something else to be able to get the night. I didn't cancel in advance because I needed that reservation if the WL didn't fill, and it wasn't as simple as fill in the date to cancel.

Someone else said that I couldn't fill a waitlist with partial points and purchased points. They may be 100% correct.

Is there a stipulation somewhere that this cannot be done?

I'm from back in the day where MS had to call to offer you waitlists, so getting a call from MS was routine back then.

As I said earlier, I think I should just resubmit the waitlist and let the points be borrowed.

One-time-use vacation points are vacation points available for Disney Vacation Club Members to use as an alternative to borrowing vacation points from the following use year's allotment.
You can obtain a maximum of 24 one-time-use vacation points once per use year per membership.
A maximum of 24 one-time-use vacation points are processed in a single transaction, not multiple transactions.
The fee for one-time-use vacation points is $15 (including tax) per vacation point, and is subject to change.
One-time-use vacation points expire according to the use year of the reservation booked and are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be banked or borrowed.
One-time-use vacation points are not available for waitlist reservations.
One-time-use vacation points cannot be applied retroactively to existing reservations.

Well, OKW has 27 grand villas total, separated into two different booking categories.

To rephrase what you're asking, your question is "what is the likelihood that someone, who has reserved one of 27 total rooms on property in my category and is traveling a week from now, will cancel?"

Plus, "what is the likelihood someone else doesn't have that night waitlisted ahead of me- if I waitlisted over a month ago?"

I would say that your chance approaches, but does not equal, zero. I hope I'm wrong, but certainly have plan B ready to go.
