Last Minute Rental Even Possible?

Hey all,

I decided to take my daughter to Disney World last minute for her 2nd birthday instead of wasting money on a party. I work in the financial sector and tax season is about to hit so long story short the only week I can afford to be away from work is coming up very soon. As I'm looking for hotel rooms on the Disney Website I notice that basically everything is sold out - I don't think this bodes well for me trying to find a DVC owner that has the amount of points I need and then trying to find a smaller room for just us two.

Should I give up now and just book one of the rooms on the Disney website before they sell out or do you think there is any chance that I will be able to find a owner/room through DVC? I'm really surprised that it's so busy this week since it's an off season and there are no events this week.

Also, I (really really) dislike Saratoga (because of a very bad personal experience I had there) and would rather just pay more for moderate. Just a personal thing for me.

Anyways, Advice pleaseee!!

Thank you.

posting that you hate a dvc resort, is not the best way to get a owner to want o help you out. Good luck.

Yikes...Owners will 'help' him out if they have points to rent and want to make money. I own at AKL and BLT and wouldn't care about renting points to someone if they said they hated either of my home resorts, it's just money...owners didn't build the resorts, don't take it so personally.

If someone told me they hated a resort and it was the only one I could rent to them, I would probably pass on the opportunity. I don't think too many DVC owners are desperate to rent their points (the market is healthy for owners), and I wouldn't want to deal with someone who's likely to complain about the accommodations afterwards. Sure, renting DVC doesn't come with a satisfaction guarantee, but that won't stop someone from complaining and wanting some sort of refund after a disappointing stay. And if I know their opinion up front, I would skip the potential headache.

Yeah I wouldn't waste anyone's time with it. That's why I felt like it was in an important thing to include in my question. I think it's fair for me to strongly dislike a certain resort. It's nothing against ANYONE (well maybe Disney) and I certainly don't judge anyone who likes SSR. But that's why I "I hate Saratoga and it's my last choice." I said it wasn't something I was interested in at all. People are allowed to dislike resorts and SAY they dislike resorts it's an important factor when looking for a opening.

You might see if CRO can help you. The only studio available for those dates is SSR

Yep. DVC is designed to operate at full occupancy year-round. Anything open within 60 days is considered breakage by DVC and can be released to CRO above and beyond any of the usual release for trades/banking/accounting.

Even in DVC low season, within 60-90 days a booking either needs to be willing to stay anywhere (most likely Saratoga or OKW), and/or be flexible on unit size, and/or be ready to do an extreme split stay.

DVC - whether own or rent - works most effectively for those who plan 7-11 months in advance. Plans in briefer time periods may see varied success, depending on how success is measured.

I'd suggest heading over to the rent/trade board or contact davids rental to try and get your ressie.

The good news is there is availability at both AKL and OKW...at least for now.

February 6th to the 10th. As I'm looking for hotel rooms on the Disney Website I notice that basically everything is sold out
Huh? There are several Moderate and Deluxe properties available for those dates with a discount. At rack rate, even more resorts are available.

And 3 DVC resorts too for points.

Anyway OP - if you are every wondering about not getting a room you can always book at Disney hotel room only and have until 5 days before to cancel. It's a way to have a backup while you look for other options last minute.

this has rent and trade board written all over it.....if you can find an existing reservartion

A reminder...we do not allow posts of availability, as inventory changes on a regular basis. OP: You can always check the R/T thread as well as services like David's who may be able to help you in seeing if there is a way to still secure a DVC reservation on short notice.
