A friend offered us the use of a paid for hotel room for Sat. night, so we jumped at the chance! When you have AP's & live only 2 1/2 hours away f/ Disney, it's possible to be spontaneous.

She and her daughter who frequently vacation with us, using our DVC, said out right, it's not DVC but it's a nice room and it's clean! And, she was right, this is where you truly appreciate being DVC owner's. As far as not staying on property, my 16 year old son said it best, "Well, some of the magic isn't there!"

We still had a great time, just Mother and Son, it's been a long time, usually we bring friends and family with us!

My son's a shopper so we did the Florida Mall and the Outlet Malls on Saturday. Saturday night we got late night res. for Boma, the only Disney buffet we still enjoy! Great meal, lovely Cream of Carrot soup and Harisha (?) soup (lentil, vegetables in tomato broth), salad w/ favorite dressing (Chili Cilantro Vinaigrette), Panneer, cous-cous, basmati rice, root vegetables, medium roast beef, Durban roast chicken, Boboti, coffee tartlets, passion fruit panna cotta, mini pumpkin cheesecakes, banana bread pudding w/ rum & vanilla sauce! What a meal....

Sunday we had breakfast at Olivia's, love the omelets & Olivia's breakfast potatoes! We then headed to MK & Epcot later for Food & Wine, for lunch I hadn't been in a few years and quite frankly it was a bit of a disappointment! France-Really great escargots, O.K. Coq au Vin, Greece-Mediocre Spanakopita (uncooked soggy bottom) soggy Greek salad. Canada-OK beer cheese soup (needed to cook longer, veg. crunchy) Filet w/ Mushrooms (Med., quite good) I had a lamb meatball covered in tomato/onions served in pastry that was very flavorful and moist, they sold scallops (smelled funky) there too, can't remember the country. Morocco, merguez in pocket w/ peppers (if you can't spare the sausage, then don't list it as you main ingredient). Australia-Lamb Lollipop, overcooked, grisly! Italy-Overcooked cheese ravioli.

I can't drink that early in the day so no alcohol, we did go back around and have a a couple of desserts which were very good, but over all I thought the food was not well prepared. Not at all what I remembered! But we still had a good time!

No lines, we did the Norway boat, Soaring, Spaceship Earth, Pirates, Haunted House, Buzz, Philarmagic. The weather was beautiful, sunny, breezy, a great week-end, even if we did miss our DVC accommodations!! But we head back pre-Thanksgiving week (OKW 2br), 15 days to go! Makes us thankful to be DVC owners!

i'm jealous you live within easy driving distance;). How nice for you though:thumbsup2. I appreciate our DVC too but have stayed in some very nice offsite deluxe hotels and had a wonderful time, just different and a good way to keep things fresh.
