Here are my final questions before we leave on Saturday...
It has been an absolute pleasure reading the boards and your experiences. Thank you so very much!

1) Is there a number we can leave here at home if someone needs to get a hold of us do to an emergency? Can they call our room directly?
2) Do the cab drivers and shops accept U.S. currency or do we need to exchange? We will be visiting St. Martin and St. Thomas.

There is a contact number which I think goes through a landline in DCL's offices. It's something like 1-888-WD-at sea. That's probably not right, but it's close. Someone on the boards should know, or you could call DCL really quick.

You can use US currency on either side of St. Maarten. The official currency is the Euro, I think, but dollars are accepted pretty much everywhere.

St. Thomas is part of the US Virgin Islands, so the dollar is the official currency.

There's no need to exchange in either port.

It's on page 26 of "The Passport to Disney Magic". It's a little booklet that came with your documents.

The number is 1-888-DC-AT-SEA (1-888-322-8732)

Just a note about the 888 number for the ships. It will ask for a credit card number before you can proceed. I started to use it and entered a credit card number a couple of weeks ago to contact DD on the Magic then changed my mind before completing the call and contacted HR at DCL to get an emergency message to her since she works on the ship.

The next day I found that my credit card was declined. The attempt to use the international calling (can't remember what it's called) had triggered a fraud alert on my card and they blocked it until I called to clear it.

Just be aware that the credit card companies are really sensitive to unusual "foreign" transactions - even though I didn't actually charge anything.

We're almost always able to use our cell phones on the ship. We still leave the emergency number for family, but we call home a few times too.

There is a call center at the dock in St. Thomas. I used my pre-paid calling card to call home. They charge you 50 cents to make a call on your calling card. They give you a cordless phone and you can go into a private room to make your call in private.

Have a great trip!!!

Another tip

Let your credit card company know where you will be traveling to.

My cell phone did not work when we were at sea. Use the DCL at sea # for emergencies and use e-mail for the regular stuff.

Also-remember that some cell companies let you send e-mail to cell phones. I have verizon and I can send an email another verizon customer that will show on their phone.
