Greetings Friends,
A grin is growing on my face, as I make my first trip home shortly. I do have a handful of last minute questions that I am hoping you all can shed some light on.

1) In regards to the trash and towel service, if I elect not to use this, am I left with just 1 set of towels and washcloths per person, or does each room have a supply (or can I get more from the front desk) that can be used until the third day?

2) A similar question, what type of supply is in the rooms for paper plate/ plastic forks and spoons/ napkins? Would it be worth it to pick up a pack of each?

3) I understand the 2BR have dishwashers, if this is true, is there also a supply of detergent, or do I need to bring this?

4) Are thre any kitchen needs that I should consider taking with me that is frequently forgotten?

Thanks in advance!

Jess

If you are in a 2br, then you will have a service for 8 in the kitchen - not paper & plastic. We always use the paper towels for napkins, not sure I've ever seen any others!

And you will also have 8 sets of towels that you can wash/dry yourself if you don't want T&T. T&T is complimentary with the room, not sure why you wouldn't take it except if you don't want someone going in?

When we were at OKW last March, there was a box of dish washer detergent - it was good for many loads. Not sure if that is standard everywhere.

And I've never found myself wanting for anything more in the kitchen, except maybe a maid................;)

Have fun!

Have fun on the trip! Please give us a report when you return.

I'll try to answer your questions

1- Each room is stocked with enough towels etc to handle the max occupancy of the room. If you stay in a studio (occ. 4) you'll get 4 towels etc. These will be replenished on trach on towel day. You can get more from housekeeping but the is a charge for this.

2- Never stayed in a studio. Not sure

3- There is a supply of detergent in the 1BR and up. We found we could get 1-2 runs of the dishwasher in. Similarly there is enough laundry detergent for 1-2 runs of the washing machine.

Which resort are you staying at? 2 bedroom?

Trash & Towel is on day 4. If you arrive Tuesday, they will come in on Friday to replace the towels & take out the trash (unless you are staying more than 7 nights, in which case it would be a full clean). If you are in a 2 bedroom, you can wash them yourself. You can request additional towels, $6 for a set of 4.

Unless you are in a studio, they do not provide paper or plastic utensils, you have the real stuff. They do not provide napkins but they do have paper towels. We always bring some foil to wrap up leftovers. We always seem to run out of glasses first, we bought a pack of plastic cups at the store last time.

OKW has a box of dishwashing detergent, BWV has one load packets. At BWV, there has always been 2 or 3 packets and they added more on T & T day.

They only provide one small box of Tide (one load) and give another on T & T day. If you are just washing towels, you could get away with splitting the box for 2 runs.

Have a great time!

We're also going home for the first time next week --one question--do the bathrooms have blow dryers like in a regular hotel room?

Yes they have blow dryers, but they are not really good ones. If you need one with a lot of strength, (long hair), you will do better bringing one. I used to bring my own, but gave up on that. The ones that are provided are good enough.

Have a great trip:wave:

Yes, there are hair dryers in the bathrooms at DVC. But I usually bring my own because they blow about as hard as most hotel hair dryers. I usually bring my own so I can get my hair dry in 5 minutes instead of 5 hours.

I like to bring those tablets of detergent for the washing machine - I am allergic to tide - so I need something else.

I also bring fabric softner - sheets as well.

if while you are there if you don't have enough dish washer detergent - just call housekeeping on your in room phone - they will bring you some more.

if you are planning on cooking - first check to make sure that you have got hot mats..... for some reason housekeeping does not put these in the rooms when needed - you must ask!!!! and ask before you need them.....
 :o
