Hi! We are headed down next week and we have a food plan. My kids will only eat waffles, Pancakes, chicken nuggets or pizza. Sometimes yogurt and cereal.

That's it.

I was under the impression that most places had one of these options, but I just learned that I was wrong.

Our reservations are:
Hollywood and vine lunch
BOG lunch(I know this one doesn't have nuggets/pizza)
Crystal palace dinner
Cinderella royal table lunch
OhAna breakfast

Any idea if these restaurants will have nuggets or pizza? I thought my TA said that I would be able to order off menu but I just read that BOG absolutely does not carry pizza or nuggets. I'm going to drop that reservation. Just wondering if I need to move anything around.

Going to go check the menus now, but if anyone knows if the above places allow you to order nuggets or pizza off menu, please let me know.

Thanks!

ETA-should I this somewhere else? Maybe it isn't appropriate for this thread? They are picky because of their autism but maybe this would be better asked on the meal plan board?

Eta: I can't figure out how to delete this. I put this question on the food board. Sorry to clog up the board!

You can ask there or here.

The restaurant menus are listed on the My Disney Experience app, which you can download for smartphones or tablets.

If something specific like pizza or nuggets are not on the menu, they are not likely to be able to provide it.
The counter service restaurants are less likely to be able to change anything. They may be able to get an item from a nearby restaurant, but you can't count on it.

For the table service restaurants, if it's something they have as an ingredient to make their menu items, they may be able to prepare it a different way - for example, if they have some kind of chicken dish, they can probably make a simple grilled chicken.

Thank you! Those links are very helpful! I think BOG is the only one I will need to change.

Hollywood and vine lunch - has chicken nuggets on the menu
Crystal palace dinner - has chicken nuggets on the menu
Cinderella royal table lunch - has chicken nuggets on the menu
Ohana breakfast - has Mickey waffles

So you are fine with every ADR except BOG. I'd definitely cancel that one. BOG lunch is just a counter service credit on the dining plan even though you have to have an ADR for it. If you are looking for another counter service credit in the MK, I like Columbia Harbor House and they have chicken nuggets.

Are they nuggets or tenders? We saw only tenders being served on our last trip, but that was a year ago.

In general, the kids menu will have chicken nuggets and the adult menu will have chicken tenders. My DD didn't like the chicken nuggets from the kids menu so I would look for restaurants which had chicken tenders on the adult menu for her.

When we were there the kids' chicken was tenders, but fewer pieces.

It's been a while since my DD has ordered off the kids menu so it's possible they've changed it. It used to be the kids menu had nuggets that were processed chicken, not breast meat. They didn't appear that appetizing to me and DD didn't like them, so I started purchasing tenders off the adult menu for her. It would be a wonderful thing if Disney has changed this so the nuggets/tenders on the kids menu are just like the adult menu, just a smaller portion.

Unfortunately many other parents do not want this change. Their children will only eat nuggets like they are accustomed to.

I was thinking the same thing.

I discovered this a number of years ago when my dtr ordered kids meal nuggets and they were actual chicken breast! They were so yummy. The cast member had told me they didn't have the usual ones and asked if a smaller portion of adult ones would be ok. I ordered the adult portion whenever she wanted them so I could eat a couple. Haven't eaten a hidden nugget or tender since then though lol.

This always baffles me - how do the kids know about processed chicken nuggets, etc, before they've had them, or is it just a family choice to offer unhealthy foods? My kids never had chicken nuggets, even though both have sensory issues. They eat vegetables, whole grains, etc. We just found healthy food they could tolerate. What did kids on the spectrum eat before processed foods?

Actually, my kid on the spectrum easts more healthy options than his toddler sister who is not on the spectrum! He loves veggies, and has issues with meat textures, or sauce textures, or mushy textures.
MY toddler on the other hand loves "kids food". And I don't know what it is that means this is her choice. After all, they have the same home life.
I guess, every one is different.
On the up side, we found that my ASD child tried a BUNCH of new things in WDW. Buffets are great for this. You can just try a tiny bit of something, and go back for more if you like it, or never eat it again if you don't, and you don't have to worry about being hungry if you make a bad choice. At least, this is our experience, so, it may be the case that they will try and discover some new things?
(On the other hand, we could always find SOMETHING that he would eat as a standby, so, try not to worry.)

I don't think it's really all that baffling.

I'm not a health nut. I eat healthy for the most part, but I'm not opposed to grabbing fast food or eating a turkey leg every now and again. Like most people (in my experience), I've given my kids chicken nuggets at some point in their life, most likely for convenience. My ASD kid does have specific foods she'll eat, although it's a bit more broad than the OP. She's almost 11 now and still not on the growth chart because of her size. It got to the point where our doctor was telling us to put gobs of butter (gross!) in any and everything just for the calories. She's been sent to bed plenty of times after 4 hours of sitting at the table sobbing because she refuses to eat whatever is for dinner. It just is what it is.

Mine usually eats one thing for a week and then changes the next week. At one point it was yogurt. Another week it was chicken legs. Another week it was tomato soup. I don't really get why it matters what the specific food a kid will eat is. If OP said the only thing her kid would eat is steamed broccoli, what's the difference? It's still an issue. Does it make people feel better and healthier to judge a special needs mom for serving their kids processed foods? Sometimes people get a little desperate and give their kids what they want because it's easier, and I can't blame them for that. After several hours of fighting with my kids to get her homework done if giving her some chicken nuggets gives us both a small break, so be it.

I think Disney has moved away from the processed mystery meat nuggets. Both the adult and kids options are called chicken nuggets. They both are basically chicken breast tenders that have been cut into nugget size pieces. The portion size is different, but same product for both. At least that is what I have found on my 3 trips to WDW in the past couple of years.

1) Actually, the majority of the nuggets on kid menus are STILL processed chicken meat/parts.
. . . THINK: the way hot dogs are processed, is the way for these nuggets
. . . chicken meat & parts are ground into a paste and for forced into a mold
. . . presto!, a chicken nugget ready for frying or cooking
2) Most of the nuggets on adult menus are chicken breasts
3) When in doubt, one needs to ask the specific question - REAL chicken breast or processed.

NOTE: Having worked next door to a chicken "cut" plant, we saw there are OVER 200 cuts for a chicken, based upon the customer specifications. So, there is no such thing as a standard for Chicken Nuggets. One needs to check-out any order for such, whether in a supermarket or restaurant. As plant managers had lunch frequently, this topic made for interesting conversation. (We won't even mention the discussions we had when the pig processing plant manager joined us! Remember, the only thing not edible in a pig is the squeal.)
