I have just been told that the middle of July reservations that I have for a wonderful family reunin are not going to work. At best, I will most likely be having to make reservations a few weeks prior to the trip - now will have to be either the first or last week in July.

Have you all had any luck with last minute July reservations (first or last week) at the BCV or BWV? I may be making these plans as late as a few weeks prior. If BCV and BWV will be impossible to get, what about the other resorts...VWL, OKW, and SSR? Thanks so much.

don't assume you won't get the middle weeks until you call member services. I called last week for july 8-15 at BCV for a 2 bedroom and got it. You never know what is available. If you can get into one of the resorts, you can always be put onto a waitlist for the rooms you want(ie,Boardwalk view, etc.)
Now if you already have the reservations for the middle of July and need to make them at a different time, all you can do is call and take a shot at the times you can go.

Goodluck,
Roger

I have middle of July reservations now, but I believe I will end up having to switch them to either the first or last week or July. And I will probably have to do that right before the trip...maybe a few weeks out (around June).

I was just wondering if July was a busy month and if folks have luck making last minute trips during that time. We'll be looking for a two bedroom.

Did you call to reserve yet? My dad called an hour ago and got a BWV studio for July 17-24. Preferred view (no standard view left, although he's on the waiting list just in case). So you might be fine!

You may have a problem if you can't reserve until just a few weeks prior to the arrival date. DVC often sends unreserved points inventory over to CRO to rent for cash 60 days prior to arrival. Members still have access to the rooms, but at that point, they are competing with the general public for any unreserved points inventory.

Can you just reserve now - pick a week and hope it is the right one? You can always cancel it at the 31 day mark if it turns out to be the "wrong" time and then try for the "right" time. You'd be no worse off it you did that and you might get lucky.

Sorry the family reunion thing isn't working the way you hoped.

Best wishes -

I too am sorry about this reunion becoming an issue, as my brother and his 2 year old son were going to go with us on this family vacation - first time he will have been with us for something like this is probably 10 years. Gram was going too. July is the ONLY time that will work for all of us (everyone will be out of school or off from work). This delima is happening for good reason...

We just moved back to our hometown in Arkansas after having lived in DC / Maryland for 10 years. My husband and I both worked for Discovery Communications (home of TLC, Discovery, Animal Planet, etc.) and now that we are back home we are switching career gears. Ultimately, we want to open our own business, but are still trying to figure out what we want to be when we grow up. Anyway...

I am going for my non-traditional teaching license, since Arkansas really needs good teachers, and the program has a three week class requirement in July. I just heard back from the program advisor that they won't know which three weeks until March. Here's what I've decided, in case yall are interested...

I am keeping my middle of July reservations for now, in case I am unable to pass the Praxis I and II exams and am not accepted into the program (thus, the July classes won't apply to me). I am also keeping the reservation, because we may figure out another path for ourselves in the meantime and I won't even end up applying to the NTL program at all.

Once I find out which three weeks in July are required for the NTL program (again, they said we'd know in March), the week I would not be in class works for my brother, I might try and switch the reservations then, just to cover all bases. I won't know for sure if I have passed both Praxis exams until May, so I hate to wait until then to take acation. Makes more sense to find a time that will work regardless of the outcome.
Saga. Drama. But all for love and a good cause. It will all work out, one way or another. All is well. Thanks to all for listening and sharing your experience and advice.

Good luck to you - and even if it means you can't go to WDW this year, I hope you pass your tests and become a teacher. Our children do need good teachers!

Best wishes -
