Got our new passports back yesterday, all in order and biometric so decided we ought to see if they work ;) So have booked a last minute week in Lanzarote for middle of June to coincide with our wedding anniversary and it is a birthday pressie for DH as well :)

So the question is has anyone flown Scheduled with Monarch?

:beach:

Claire ;)

Yes and sorry they are dire.....at least the seating is BAD! In Economy the pitch is 29" on their long haul flights so could be even less on a short European hop. Even in their Premium cabin it is only 34".

They are also terrible at delays. Sometimes hours and hours. I hope you're lucky and it works out for you. Have a nice trip to the Canaries.

No, we've never flown with Monarch before

  Great news on booking a last minute holiday ~ have a great time

I have flown Scheduled with Monarch about 5 years ago, however it was in November and the flight outbound was great I was given blukhead seats and the two seats next to me were empty, it was great, I could put the are rest out and spread out. we got champagne with breakfast too. However the flight home was not so good as it was full of drunk people, and one of them had to be taken of the plane which meant we were sat on the plane for about 2 hours before take off. the leg room was about average for short haul. They gave free drinks out, I am not sure if they still do this.

Sorry, no nothing on Monarch, just wanted to say well done on booking a last minute!!

I did pay the extra for extra leg room exit seats so hoping not too bad :) We alst flew with them in 2003 charter and it was like being couped up as a chicken!

Hi Clare,
We generally fly with XL so I'm afraid I can't comment on Monarch.
All I know is that you will have a fab time.
We love Lanzarote Hubbie and me met there 16 years ago  We have been there about 8/9 times:goodvibes
Anyway were will you be staying?
We for the last few years have been staying at Puerto Calero Can really recommend it.
Hope you have a good time If you haven't been there before and you need any help just let me know.
Have fun

Excellent news Claire:thumbsup2

We flew with Monarch in 2003 ~ Think we must have been lucky because we found them ok.

Great news on the holiday Claire :thumbsup2
We flew with Monarch in 1999 and they were awful, however that was charter.

Watch out for the time share touts, they know when the planes land and can spot new flesh a mile off :thumbsup2 Our tip is to walk a few steps apart. they tend to go forr family groups/couples. you could also try being German!

Cornish Pixie thanks for the info, we have been to Lanzarote 3 times before and heading back to the old town of Puerto Del Carmen  It is so chilled out there. Lanzarote was the first holiday DH and I took together, 3 months after we started going out, so it is our special place for a short relaxing break.

Have a fantastic time, Claire, it sounds lovely. I always think short haul flights are much of a muchness, always cooped up like a chicken, but at least it isn't for too long.

Claire, we flew with them the first time we went to Orlando in 1999 and they were fine, we found the seats OK and the staff very friendly! I am sure you will have a great time!:)

Our thoughts are it is only a 4 hour flight and we did book at the last minute, would of used BA again but their summer flight timetale has terrible flight times as the outbound doesn't arrive til 8pm! Just looking forward to relaxing and getting some sun after a stressful few months at work!!

Claire ;)
