We booked a last minute trip and a short one . Is it worth getting DDP ? I don't know what resv I will be able to get. We are going in less than 4 weeks.
And not sure if I want to try it ?? Any help ???:confused3
Thanks

What I did was make my ADR and then determined that getting the DDP would be worth it. You can add it onto your reservation 2 days before you arrive.

The dining plan must be added at least 72 hours before your check-in day, as that is when the reservation is released to the resort from central reservations.

I agree with adventure woman. Call the dinning reservation service and see what ADR;s you can get for your dates. When you reserve, they don't verify that you are on the DDP. Then, if you are satified with your ADRS, add the dinning plan, if not dont add. I figured out for us (using a spread sheet) that we would in fact save $$$ by doing the DDP, but it doesn't work for everyone! Good luck!

3 days - thank you Princess Tiffany - I will make note of that! (I didn't want to have to pay for it this early, so I'm waiting...)

I'm betting you could easily get into The Wave and Biergarten, just to name 2.

Thanks for all the help , I first tried for a Character meal no good every day we are there so . We will just have to wing it. Maybe next time .:surfweb:

Do you have the Disney Visa?

If so, you could see if you could switch to a package with the free dining plan. We did, and they slightly discounted our room as well!

I personally haven't ever done the plan, but this gives us a chance to give it a try. We are also going soon also - 4 weeks! I just booked about a week ago. Very last minute for us also! Okay, maybe 2 weeks ago!

We got some reservations - not at the super popular places, but some.

Have a great trip!

I don't have the VISA and I would love to try the DDP but I don't think it's going to work out on this trip. I'm renting some points from DVC so don't think they would do that for us.
Thanks have a great trip hope for good weather.

You absolutely CAN get any DDP while renting points from a DVC member. I am doing this in Feb.
They add the DDP you choose to the reservation then you pay for the DDP upon check in.

Now if you choose not to do the DDP, that's fine. I just wanted you to know that is an option.

If you REALLY want to do the dining plan, you can keep calling (every day) to see if an ADR for a character meal opens up. You could make ADR's for some of the less crowded restaurants then switch it should you get a character meal. Again The Biergarten (excellent food) should be easier to get. The Wave seems to have availability. Maybe check Boma. Perhaps Whispering Canyon Cafe. San Angel Inn or Restaurant Marrakesh? I'm sure other DISers could give you suggestions if you are interested.
For character meals, I'll bet there are less popular meals (I have only done Chef Mickey's). But maybe a Donald's Safari Bfast or Garden Grill would be available. Again, I'm taking a stab here, but trying to give you options.

HTH! :wizard:

i made a ressie @ raglan road for a 6:00 dinner on dec. 15th today!! you need to also try yak & yeti, any of the boardwalk restaurants (spoodles, cape may). we are using a lot of our ts meals for lunch cause we want to enjoy the decorations at night.
good luck!
