Has anyone ever got off the boat and then decided to get right back on again if a deal is to be had?

Is this even an option on location at the port? Does Disney ever do last min / same day deep discounts?

We have a 4 night cruise coming up next year and staying in for the Back to back 3 night would be cool.

Cannot happen do to law. I think they can't book anyone if it's under three days.they have to give the list whose on the cruise to port authorities.

Really? Interesting. What's the law? On location booking or same day?

You can't just walk up on the day of a cruise and book a room. The shortest time I've heard of is the day before, although there might have been someone who was able to book the morning of the cruise.

That being said, you must do so by phone, can't do it at the port.

Firstly, you can't get into the port/terminal without a reservation.
Second, the people at the check in counter don't have the ability to make a reservation, as far as I know.
Third, I believe you pay full price for the reservation, even if you are able to get one.

I have read of people being able to book the next cruise WHILE ON A CRUISE. Not after they've gotten off.

While they do run security checks on people reserving a cruise, they can do that sort of thing while the cruise is running. And detain anyone sending up a red flag upon return to the US (or in a port).

Ya, I was thinking on the cruise might be an option as well. 3 days seem like overkill.

Update just looked it up. At least for the USA the cruise line has to give the manifest to homeland security at least 72 hours in advance of the cruise.

Care to share? Would love to take a look.

You have to be booked at least three days in advance. I'm pretty sure if I'm wrong someone correct me
Can't recall for sure if DCL allows it, but I know people have been able to book other cruiselines as late as the day before the cruise. But it always has to be done via phone call, can't do it online.

I'm pretty sure DCL takes cruises offline 3 days prior. But don't know if that means you can't call and reserve during that 3 days period.

So I have seen some reports of people claiming that have called DCL for same day reservations, but did not get a "discounted" rate. Some claim room upgrades.

DCL does not discount same day if you call to book. But, if you are already booked on a cruise you can see if any discounted upgrades are available at the terminal when you check in. You must check in at the regular check in desk and then head to the supervisor's desk to see if any discounted upgrades are available. If available, the discounts are nice.

In all honesty, if you want to tack on a 3 day after your 4 day, keep checking prices in advance. Sometimes DCL will promote "last minute restricted" rates which are not really last minute but usually come out after the paid in full date. If they do offer these rates the discounts are pretty good. If the price is to your liking then you can book the 3 day. One of the restrictions, though, is that you can't pick your cabin so getting the same cabin you already had on the 4 day would be highly unlikely. You will be assigned a cabin by DCL (usually before the cruise). You would have to pack up your cabin and the room hosts would move your stuff to the new cabin.

Good tip.

Assuming availability, maybe book on the ship for an inside stateroom for the following cruise then attempt an upgrade at the port.

I have been on cruises (on other lines) that have offered the current passengers deals on the next cruise to fill empty cabins. So apparently it can be done. Unfortunately, I have not been able to take advantage of the deals, but they were very tempting.

Passengers on the current cruise have been cleared by Homeland Security or whatever agency, so barring any incident that occurred while the people were on the cruise, they should be able to continue to use the clearance they already have.

Ya, that was what I was thinking.

I believe you can book onboard to create s back-to-back with the next cruise. You'd get the OBB, or possibly a *GT if a better deal; though I'm not sure DCL would offer anything more. You would have to book onboard, not get off and try to "walk up".

DCL does pull cruises off the website 3 days prior to embarkation and begins the manifest process. However it should be possible to book within that period by calling st least the day prior. I don't believe you can book a new reservation on embarkation day.

Enjoy your cruise(s)!
