I need your help. I have battled cancer not once, but twice this year. Two very rare forms of cancer that have required four surgeries and five hospital stays in the past 11 months. It has stolen time with my family. I have promised my children that we would have a family vacation at Universal and Disney when I was feeling better to make up for lost time and make some new memories together. But I can't find any affordable rentals. We are on a strict budget because of all of my medical bills.

I have searched exhaustively and found nothing.

I can't miss this opportunity to be with them.

We are looking for a pool home for nine people ( other family members are coming to join us), accepts pets and is in a good place for driving to Universal and Disney for 4/1-4/8. We can't afford more than $800 for the week. A challenge, I know.

I pray that there is someone out there that may know of a place for us. Please share this plea. Through the power of the internet, I pray there is someone out there who can help.

It's the "accepts pets" that might be hardest. How many are there, what type, and is there any way they can stay home with someone else?

As for a place to stay, do a search on a place like VRBO. Enter your search criteria, and you'll find places for under $800 a week. I just did a quick search and here are a few places I found, and tons more out there....

I think the challenge you're going to have is being "all in" for under $800. There are some places out there for that amount, but there will be a pet fee and a security deposit (which can often be several hundred dollars). You'll get the security fee back, so in the end you can probably be all in for close to $800, but not upfront. I had seen these as well. I have actually emailed the owners of these properties but it's been three days and no response. I would never book anything blind, i need to speak to the owners first. There are just so many things that could go wrong.

First, I am sorry for your cancer. I lost my dad to it. Our only saving grace is that his was fast.

VRBO Instant Quote and book it. You have a very strict budget and requirements. It is not something that can be easily accommodate. I would find one that is available and book it when you can.

I agree with BigredNole. While I very much understand your concerns about wanting to speak to the owners first, VRBO is a pretty reputable place. I've rented a lot of places and never once had an issue. Most of them also have phone numbers, so you can call instead of e-mailing. I ran across at least 8 or 10 places when I did a quick search with your criteria. I'll bet at least one or two of them will respond to you quickly.

Considering that 2 of the 3 days were a Saturday & a Sunday

the VRBO suggestions above are a good start. Are you able to search some more?

Finding a place that has a phone number to call the owner sounds like it might work.

Sorry to hear about all that you have been going through.

Can you increase your budget at all? Getting 9 people tickets, food, parking, etc for Disney and Universal is going to cost a small fortune, therefore your housing budget seems incredibly low relative to that. Maybe skip a day in the parks or choose between Universal OR Disney, rather than trying to do both and increase your lodging budget that way.

Westgate Lake Resorts accepts pets and can accommodate 9 ( I think larger units are up to 16 guests). It's not a pool home but might be more affordable?

Thank you all for your ideas. I booked a villa at Paradise Palms through Airbnb. It will meet all of our needs. Now time to start planning the fun....
