Ok guys...here's the situation...I was hoping that I would be 100% settled on a resort for our upcoming July 2012 by our 180 day mark...well, that's Tuesday, and for some of you who have been following, you will note that I have bounced endlessly back and forth between WL, POLY, and BC...Currently, we are booked at the WL. Our DD's are excited about the bunk beds, the geyser and hidden mickey hunt...but when we were booked at the Poly, they were excited about the volcano pool, the hula lessons, and the monorail...needless to say, they will be excited wherever we go...DH just says "do what you want"...no help. The difference between WL and Poly is approx $500...and if I'm being honest, if I knew I was going to go to the Poly and have a clean room, I would stay there in a heartbeat...but I have concerns over reports of wear and tear, and most importantly bugs....:scared1: I realize it's Florida, and there are bugs, but that's no excuse to have them in your hotel room...there are sprays for that right??? So...is the $500 difference "worth it" to move from WL to the Poly? Are my fears of the Poly based on a minority of reviews??? I am so torn, and I feel like I am letting my fears make me "settle" on something that I only feel slightly more comfortable with...boy...resort decisions were sooooo much easier before I discovered the Dis...:sad2:

POLY....it seems to be calling your family the most :lovestruc just go there and if you don't like it, see if you can change....but I really think you will be one of those converted POLY fans! It doesn't have so much love for no reason, and just think if the rumors are true about a potential overhaul, you will have at least had the opportunity to enjoy it as it originally was! I think the POLY will make you all very, very happy....and I'd do GV club level ....if it had the bigger pull out bed like the BWI deluxe room does, I'd be seriously thinking of staying at the POLY too :goodvibes.....I will choose the POLY for hubby's and my 25th anniversary trip in 2016, but this trip, the room needs of our party require the deluxe room at BWI.....I vote GO with the POLY! :) :thumbsup2

Well, we stayed at the Poly in September. The room was clean, very 70's, but that's the decor. Large, roomy and very comfortable. Not ultra luxury but we loved it so much. We came home and gave honest reviews to our friends who asked.
Coming back in Sept 2012 we tried to stay elsewhere on site but are being drawn back to the poly again. With three DD, 8,6,3 this trip, nothing can beat the convenience and overall atmosphere. Being able to wheel the stroller for the little one on /off the monorail while she was asleep after a long day was great, as was watching the fireworks from the "point" and then putting the girls to bed.
I think I am a little biased but go for the Poly! Mousekeeping was amazing, and was always there to help us out with whatever we needed. Don't get me wrong, the rooms do show their age but (in our experience) are clean and the overall feel of the resort can't be beat. :)

I get the decor...and if the room will actually look like the pics I see when I arrive, I would be fine with that...I'm just afraid the pics aren't representative I guess.

The pictures are pretty much correct (in my opinion!!)

I think in the summer I would go Beach Club--I think you'll want the pool.

I obviously am a fan of all 3--and am just as unstable as you :rotfl2: As of 10:46pm tonight--I would place you at BC.

I hear you on the Beach Club...however, with two kids that don't swim independantly, but who love being in the pool, it worries me a little, less pool space might be best...

Well, that's good to know...and let's be honest...I think the values are super nice, so I should be blown away by the Poly!!! We don't stay in hotels much...

Well, we unfortunately started off onsite at the Poly (bad move on our part:goodvibes) but we got a really good discount! Getting spoiled right off the bat was probably why we are going back. Hoping your family would like it too if that is where you choose to go :)

YES, and that BCpool is so sprawling...great for teens and Independent swimmers, little ones, not so much ..... I'd prefer the volcano pool :goodvibes

We actually have a great discount - 40% - so looking at $273/night weekends and $249/night weekdays...I'm thinking it would be foolish to pass it up, but :scared1:

Do it then!! We had 40% off last year and so far have only managed 30% off of for September. We stayed in Tokelau and had the quiet pool right beside us. It is not that deep and for us with 3 beginner swimmers it was quite manageable. Even the Volcano pool was not overwhelming for us.

You said you didin't like the decor of Poly then you switched to Wl which is even darker and the rooms are half the size. If you don't like dark don't stay at WL. I would base your descision on location, price and pool. A room is a room. How much time are you going to be in it? I would quit worrying about room condition and just go with your heart wherever that leads you. I think your worrying too much about getting a bad room, and every resort has them. I am sure its like 90% good and 10% bad at every resort.

I think the chances are pretty good that your room will be just fine whatever you decide.

Maybe you should let your dh tell you what to do. That worked for me, and you know all about my problems.

...and no bug issues in your room???

The only bug we saw was by the patio doors (we were ground floor), not sure what it was. It was already dead and I just picked it up with a Kleenex and flushed it. Figured we were ground floor...whatever.:confused3

I do know your problems... and DH said he will do whatever I want, but he feels that I am "settling" and that I really want the Poly...funny though, in pics, I don't think the WL looks darker than the Poly...but...I guess I would need to see them in person...DH was more leaning towards us staying at the Poly....AUUUUUUUUUGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!

at the risk of sounding like an idiot...was it big???? I am the biggest bug phobic person...and realize that I have never had a problem with bugs at Disney before, and I always tend to get worked up about it before our next trip and then it turns out to be a non-issue...but I have to ask...

Mousemommy, I've stayed at all three (Poly, WL and BC) multiple times each, and I do think that Poly is worth the additional $$$. The convenience of the monorail - direct to Epcot at TTC and direct to MK at GCH or TTC is huge with kids! The dining options at Poly are outstanding with kids and the rooms are quite a bit larger. So between WL and Poly, I'd go with Poly. We do really enjoy the boat from WL to MK, the beautiful lobby and the lower price tag, so it's definitely a great choice - we just prefer Poly.

As for BC, of course we love it and I think it's particularly wonderful in the summer. There are essentially four separate areas of the pool, and I describe them all with depths and photos here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2790323

Sorry if I already posted that on the RC thread, but if not, it might help a bit if you consider BC again. Our boys are ages 5, 11 and 12 and we really have no worries at SAB. As you can see from the link, the two shallow areas of SAB are completely disconnected from the two deeper areas.

Good luck with your decision! :)
