So we are checking out at SSR and our flight doesn't leave till 7:00 p.m. ( assuming DME will pick us up around 3:30) We have a park reservation at MK for that day but not sure if we want to do a park or not. We only have one day planned at MK the Sunday prior so I guess we are leaning towards a morning at the park and Disney Springs for lunch. Haven't planned a breakfast yet for the trip, so that's an option as well. We usually fly out early , so I never really had to plan a full last day. Hopefully someone with some experience with late flights out can give me some good ideas.

I often fly out late in the day in the summer. I plan time to freshen up and change clothes in the resort bathroom (or, if I'm short on time, an airport bathroom) before boarding the plane. I have an outfit set aside, along with baby wipes (or similar) in an easy-to-access area of my luggage in a packing cube. My park clothes can then go into that packing cube back in the luggage. You can use this trick if you spend the day swimming at your resort, but the showers near the pools are not currently open, from what I understand.

I like to do a park on my last day, if possible. I usually choose Animal Kingdom because I feel like I have the most control over my schedule there with the animal pathways instead of having to guess on if the queue times are accurate. The safari can sometimes be longer than planned if an animal is blocking the path, but I am perfectly content to watch animals around the park pathways for hours. My other choice for a last-day park is Magic Kingdom for the nostalgia.

The biggest thing is to be mindful of is the time. Allow plenty of time to get from the park or Disney Springs back to your hotel for the DME pickup, including a big cushion for retrieving your luggage from bell services.

agree with above poster - leave PLENTY of wiggle room in your schedule. Another tip is to eat where you are. If you plan on being at MK that day, i’d either eat at Magic Kingdom, or one of the Magic Kingdom area resorts. It may be nice to do a table service lunch to unwind your trip and prepare for the flight home. Gives you time to rest, refuel, and then head back to your resort to leave.

The flip side to this is to leave the park earlier, and have a late lunch at the resort so the park-to-resort transportation is completed with plenty of time.

Regardless, I'd limit your day to a park OR Disney Springs OR a lazy resort day. Pick one.

We normally do evening flights and go to a park that last day. My plan would be:

-Try to be packed up nice and early. Drop off the luggage at bell services and hit the park ASAP
-Hang out in MK for a few hours
-Take the resort boat over to Poly for lunch
-Walk to TTC for SSR bus
-Pick up the luggage and wait for DME
