Hi all,

I am desperate to come back to Disneyland for my 30th in March. We are from the UK so am looking for some advice on Spring Break.

We would want to arrive on 20th March which is a Monday and stay for 6 nights. Would the parks be that crowded as Easter is a bit later next year (16th April is Easter Sunday)

Am I right in thinking more schools/colleges will have their breaks nearer Easter?

Just looking for some firsthand experience, advice and would you go during this time? I don't want much :)

Thanks all!

Our break ( in Oklahoma) is always 3rd week of March. Texas is usually the week before us, and some the same week.

We were there from March 21-28 2015 during Spring Break and the parks were very busy. They were busier than we are normally used to as we tend to go durning slower times but they were still quite manageable and we were able to get on everything we wanted.

In 2017 our school Spring Break is from March 20-31 even though Easter is the middle of April.

Have a great trip for your 30th!

Colleges don't plan their spring breaks around Easter, it's timed to the quarter or semester. There will be lots of spring breaks at that time. Disney only has 1 extra day in that week that APs are blocked and then the week long starts in the 2nd week of April. You're probably looking at something like 8/10 crowds instead of 10/10.

Schools in my area always have spring break mid March. That being said, we went on Spring break two years ago and got so much done in the 5 days we were there. It was busy, but still manageable.

Thanks all. I really want to be there for my actual birthday so think we are just going to go for it. We have been at WDW over Christmas and NYE, have been to Tokyo DL when it has been busy and used to crowded other places anyway. I think the crowds won't take the shine off the day for me when we know how to 'work' the parks anyway.

You can check this thread out. It will give you an idea of Disneyland events and School Schedules.
The first one is for 2016

This is the beginning of one for 2017. The info is in the first two postings.

Figment_jii puts real effort into maintaining the information. It's a handy thread for attempting to figure crowds in the parks.

If you look at past Disneyland Resort Operating hours for the Spring/Easter Break, you can see they add the maximum the week before and after Easter Sunday, but start to increase hours, staffing and offerings the second week of March until late April, since so many schools, colleges and universities have different break period, though the trend is to not focus on Easter Sunday anymore, but pick a fixed week, such as the 10th week of the semester for the break every year. So yes, it will be busy, but it is hard to predict just how bad, and then you take into considerations like weather (which mainly has an impact on the local visitors), conventions and other special events in the area near Disneyland, and it is a equation with many different variables.

I should add that Disney does a fairly good job looking at all the factors, a key one is looking at the reservations made for the Hotels in the area (Disney and non-Disney) to see trends, and also past history. Is it perfect? The answer is no, Disney has opted to extend operating hours after the announced closure many times due to the higher than expected crowds that day.
