Both my teens are getting Ipod Nanos for Christmas, although I may break down and give DD who'll be 20 tomorrow hers for her birthday....

ANYWAY, you *have* to have those Icard tune cards to download songs, right? Are there places to get bargains on those or other them below cost? Is that pretty much the only way to do it? I'm quite clueless when it comes to this particular piece of technology........

No, you can use a credit card too. But since you say your teens, I would assume they don't have a credit card. Otherwise yeah, I think you'd have to use the iTunes card to buy songs.
