LASIK surgery - any horror stories?

I wish I could give you a horror story but I can't. I know several people that have had this one and noone had any problems. I will say that it's not permanent. I had it done over 5 years ago, and I need glasses again. I will probably have it done again once my eyes have steadied out for a while.

I won't say a "horror story" but it was very different than I expected. There was a step in the process (flattening of the eyeball) that they failed to mention that almost sent me over the edge. I just am a total type A and not knowing what is going on was freaking me out. I was not given Valium but some other medication to "take the edge off" and it did not work at all.
Let's just say for the 1st month I thought I had made monumental mistake. It has now been 2 months and I can now see the joy of it.
I also am not seeing 20/20 and as it stands now, I don't think I would go through that again for a fairly small benefit.
BTW, no halos or dry eye at all.

I don't have a horror story, but I do know my FIL had it done years ago and it did not work for him, I am not sure of the specifics though. But, I do also know that my SIL and her DH both had it done last year with great results.

My DH had the main surgery done last year, and even that alone really helped his vision a lot. And, he also had a severe astigmatism. However, he did have the halo effect at night like someone else mentioned. But, recently he had the adjustment surgery done and now his vision is even better, both at night and day. The doctor considered him a severe case (since he had some damage to the back of his eyes), and was not sure if he could get him to the same vision as his eyeglasses (bottle bottoms), but now his vision is almost 20/20 and he is still amazed.
In all it cost us $3000 for the initial surgery and $300 for the adjustment surgery.
