I had it done 9 years ago. I had amazing vision from the time I sat up on the exam table. My eyes were horrible before. A -8.00 or something. I went 7 years without glasses, but now need to wear them for low light and driving conditions. My prescription is uneven, and I have astigmatism in one eye again (in both prior to surgery), so I end up wearing my glasses all the time because its easier. I also had to have a touch up 6 months after the initial surgery. All eyes regress after, so they try to over correct initially so the regression leaves you with 20/20 vision.
You should know that while the surgery "resets" your vision, it doesn't stop it from changing. So if you're a -5.00 now, and you'll be a -7.00 when you die, you'll still be a -2.00 with the surgery because it doesn't cure what you're eyes are going to do naturally.
I'm disappointed it didn't last longer, but I couldn't even see my alarm clock prior. I can still play with my son in the pool with no glasses and see him great. And I didn't have to worry about glasses when he was a baby. I can also wear cute, fun glasses I couldn't before because my prescription was too large. My Dr also says I have a "good" prescription because I shouldn't have to wear reading glasses.
