Didnt I read here somewhere that on the ship they can do that laser thing where they laser your families face into a piece of crystal? I know they do it at epcot center but thought someone said you can get it done on the ship. If so, where and how much does it cost???

Thanks Tracy

I remember seeing Seaspray's. They looked great! If she doesn't see this thread and reply, you could always PM her. HTH!

We got DS1's face in a crystal on his 1st birthday. It's so beautiful-- there's a 3D Mickey in the square, and DS1's face is above that. His face is NOT 3D, though, only Mickey. I think I remember someone saying that the crystals they're doing now are 3D?

We had it done on the cruise and it was really cool. We did the medium size block with base for $99 I think.

The only problem is I had to take my glasses off - they were reflecting too much so I don't think it looks a lot like me.

We saw this in Epcot and enquired about it, but as there were 3 of us they said they were not able to do it. On the ship we asked again and we given the same answer. We stopped by again towards the end of the cruise and said they were lovely, but as there were 3 of us it was a shame. The guy said they had done one for 3 and it had come out really well. He said they could take the picture, and we could decide if we were happy with it before they proceeded (at no cost). It was really clever, because they show you what it will actully look like in the cube and you know whether it will fit or not. The picture came out great - although it was really difficult to sit really still, without blinking for 30 seconds. We went for it and it cost $119 for the large cube - only choice as there was 3 (inc base)

Actually our base doesn't revolve - thought I might take it back on the next cruise!

Here I am :wave2:

Here's a link directly to my "Disney Cruise Souvenirs" page. Scroll down just a little and you'll see a few different shots of our laser-cut crystal cubes. We LOVE them and when people visit, they are immediately drawn to them because they're so different!

We also got the medium size, and including the rotating-colored light changing-mirrored base, they cost $99 each.

Thanks for replying in SeaSpray, and for posting the link again so we could see them! Aren't those great Tracy?

I plan on getting one of my children when we sail in a couple of weeks. :D

Getting closer for both of us! :Pinkbounc

Where do they do these? Shutters? One of the gift shops? Way cool... I too would like to get one of my kids together. Thanks for sharing!

It's done through Shutters. On our cruise they had the special cameras set up at different times throughout the cruise. I don't think they took reservations; you just had to go to the designated spot during the set time frame.

Our only regret is not getting 2 more additonal cubes; each DS in his own cube. Next time we'll have those made up, but they'll be 2 years older than they were in these first cubes.

I remember it being just before you enter in shutters, just out of Studio Sea (?) At least I think it is Studio Sea.

This is where we got ours done. It took a day to be ready

OOH The Memories today, looking outside at all that Snow, and wishing I could be on the boat Anywhere.

Do they do them on both the Wonder and Magic?? Hope so and I would charish a good one of my girls!!

DW and I got the large crystal on our Nov 04' cruise. We actually had the 3D picture taken on deck 4 in one of the corners overlooking the atrium. It was a couple of days later before we could pick it up.

On formal and semi-formal night they take the shots outside of Studio Sea. On the other nights there is a sign listing the location where you can find the photographer.

You have to sit perfectly still in the same pose, with the same expression on your face for several minutes without moving while the 3D picture is being taken. If you move it will screw up the entire thing and you have to start all over. We saw several small children who just COULDN'T do this. The night we had ours done they had to do 4 "takes" of one little girl. It was kinda funny, as you could see the poor parents frustration.

The large crystal that we purchased, with the lighted base was $119.99. We had originally planned on getting the medium sized crystal, but after seeing what they had to offer we figured it was worth the extra $20 to get the bigger size offered.

It makes a great souvenier and conversation piece.

oooohhhh I want one! But I'm afraid I'll be one of those people that just can't sit still! Is there usually a long line for this? I'll feel reallllllly self-conscious if I'm expected to be still but I know that others are waiting on me!

I see, I see lol....they ARE very nice....and do look well worth the money. I am so excited now lol and look so forward to getting one done. Thanks mickeyfanmom and seaspray..... :Pinkbounc

Oh my... I was so planning to get one of these but I seriously doubt DD3 could sit still for one minute, much less four!

KYCC-- was the photographer patient with that little one???

The photographer was very patient with all the little ones. It was adorable watching them try so hard to sit perfectly still and just not being able to maintain it. The night we picked up our crystal there was a little black girl with her hair all done in beads and the cutest little dress on. I don't know about the photographer, he seemed pretty calm, but her mama was getting very frustrated. I saw them later that evening and I asked her mother if they had ever gotten the picture taken and she said, "yes, finally".

To the poster who asked if there was a long line for this, I can answer with what I noticed. There was only 1 family ahead of us when we had ours done. They set up at different times in different places and they are there for a couple of hours at a time, so if there is a wait you can always come back in a bit. It is definetly worth the $$$$

It could be that I don't remember this process taking so long because my DSs are teens, but I honestly don't remember having to sit still for "minutes". LOL DH and I posed together, and we had both DSs pose together, and neither of the shots seemed to take very long. All 4 of us are smiling in our images and I know I didn't have to hold that pose for very long. I don't know why I'm remembering this differently than some of the other posters here. Maybe the camera was running fast that day?? lol

The photographer took 2 shots of each of us, and both came out really nice. We got to choose which one we wanted to be engraved in the crystal. If you're not sure about how long you'll have to sit still for and you have a young child, it can't hurt to ask at Shutters.
