For anyone interested, Las Vegas officials are supposed to conduct a briefing at 4p.
Hm... I sincerely hope we don't ever have to get to the point where just checking into our hotel involves going through a TSA-style x-ray luggage check and metal detector. One mass killer, by himself, is not enough reason (in my personal opinion) to search everyone's luggage and body for hidden weapons.
Are there multiple entrances at the hotels? Do they have security at each entrance? This is what happens at Disneyland Paris onsite hotels. There is a security checkpoint and xray machine at the entrance to each onsite hotel. To get to the hotel lobby, all luggage must go through the TSA style scanner

So, do you have to go through security again at the gate to the park, or are you now "inside the bubble"?
I dont know, I havent stayed in Paris city centre since the terorist attack so I dont know how the regular city hotels areAnd is this routine for other non-Disneyland hotels in Paris, or is it a practice particular to the ones associated with the theme park?
Yes you have to go through security again to get to the parks. The onsite hotels are the far side of Disney village, meaning if you walk you have to go through security check and bag scan again to enter Disney village. Once in Disney village you are in the Disney bubble. If you take the shuttle bus you have to go through security to enter Disney village and if you park in the carpark you have to go through security to go through Disney village.

I assume (yea, I know), they could isolate it by floor or wing (especially a building that large), but I doubt it would isolated to a single room.
Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel (link...)
...
An addressable fire alarm system is one in which all fire and smoke detection devices in a system are connected and communicate both with each other and a central control monitoring location. This interconnectivity allows the control personnel to identify the location or “address” where the initial detection occurred. The information directs the emergency response team to pinpoint their efforts immediately to the precise location of the developing problem.
...
Using computer-aided design technology, HRSS experts can integrate a full menu of fire detection and notification devices. The design capability provides a 3-dimensional replication of the entire facility to determine precise locations for detection and alarm devices, as well as optimal and secondary evacuation routes. A Notifier addressable fire alarm control panel and central control monitoring site will provide the utmost security for occupants and the building.

‘I cannot express how wrong I was’: Country guitarist changes mind on gun control after Vegas
n the wake of the deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday night that left at least 58 people dead and more than 500 injured, the Josh Abbott Band — like many country acts — posted a message that sent thoughts and prayers to the victims. The Texas-based group performed at the Route 91 Harvest festival Sunday afternoon, several hours before a gunman fired into the crowd during Jason Aldean’s set.
“I’ve been a proponent of the 2nd amendment my entire life. Until the events of last night. I cannot express how wrong I was. We actually have members of our crew with [Concealed Handgun Licenses], and legal firearms on the bus,” Keeter wrote. “They were useless.” He continued:
We couldn’t touch them for fear police might think we were part of the massacre and shoot us. A small group (or one man) laid waste to a city with dedicated, fearless police officers desperately trying to help, because of access to an insane amount of fire power.
Enough is enough.

So much for the argument that if more people carry guns they could stop these mass murderers
If I may offer an opinion, part of the problem facing us is keeping guns away from criminals and threatening individuals in general. The wider debate about gun control in general is for another day.
I have not seen any thing to say why 2 windows were shot out. They seemed too far apart to be from the same room. Unless it was a big suite, I guess. Just hadn't seen anything about the 2nd window.

Yeah but then in the same situation you had John Rich (from country band, Big and Rich), who has a permit to carry, give his gun to an off-duty officer who wasn't carrying for the first time ever, so that he could secure the building. They were at a local restaurant that John Rich owns when all this was happening.
So while I agree that carrying a firearm would not have helped the people at that concert in that specific situation, I do think it could be helpful in other scenarios.
I do think looking at the number of guns people are buying could be one thing to be looked at.
So much for the argument that if everyone carries mass shootings would be more of a blood bath....‘I cannot express how wrong I was’: Country guitarist changes mind on gun control after Vegas

I'm reminded of Philando Castile, and how some people argued he shouldn't have acquired his gun license in the first place, because it wasn't prudent for him (as a black male) to carry a weapon in any circumstances.
I'm guessing that John Rich was well known to that officer (at least by reputation, if not personally), and would have been considered especially trustworthy, being a restaurant owner in his own establishment.
