DH & I would like to go to Vegas for Christmas :santa: . We would like to fly out

actually Xmas day and stay through until Jan 1 (at least).....

Does anyone have any good ideas for airlines where I can get a good fare

and how about hotels...looking for deals here :scratchin? We would like to really stay on the strip!!!

We are flexible with the dates as well...maybe even going on 12/26 to get a

really good deal.... ::yes::

TIA :thanks: :thanks: :jumping1:

Most of the strip resorts will sell New Year's packages for multiple stays over the holiday. Prepare to pay a premium price for the hotel portion of your trip to be there over New Year's. Most airlines offering competing prices for Vegas. Southwest will be your best bet, for price. Since we are flying from the east coast, a non-stop is more important for us.

I did a quick peek at Travelocity on rooms on the Strip, they are pretty cheap over Christmas, but as expected triple for the Fri/Sat/Sun over New Year's.

If budgeting is a concern, how important is New Year's Eve on the strip? You could consider staying on the strip for a few days and then moving to something less expensive off strip for the weekend, but would then need to rent a car or take more cabs to get around.

Also, the casinos do a good job of listing prices and special deals on their websites. BUT they don't post until 4 months out, so it will be September before they show up. If you book something now, make sure it's refundable in case a deal comes along.

I can guarantee you that the prices in Vegas will be through the roof during that time of year. Most hotels are charging a fortune. The prices are "ok" for xmas day until the weekend but plan on paying at least 350 a night for the weekend rates.

If you are willing to pay you can stay there but it will cost you. Even places like the Luxor or Excalibur which are generally lower cost the rest of the year are charging $360+ for Sat and Sun of that week.

As for airfare no help there because we drive it but just be prepared for sticker shock when you look to book a room. I don't think there is any way to get them any less costly especially during a weekend like this one is with New Years.

I do know if you can or want to go the week before Christmas and stay over on Christmas Day you will be paying at least 1/2 of the next week for your stay. The Luxor is 100-120 a night the week before whereas it was $360 for the next week.

I wish I could help you more

Thank you all so much for the replies...

We just got notice in today's mail that my DS who will be studying overseas will be done (classes and finals) on or about December 17th. His 21st birthday is December 30th.

DH and I thought it would be a blast for him to celebrate his bday in Las Vegas...hence my decision to even wait and go the 26th or later just to be in Vegas for the 30th.

I went on the Southwest website for a sec and you cannot even book or get fares this early...only through Oct.

I would go to USAIR.com then go to the tab that says vacations. You might find a good deal.
