Las Vegas hotel reviews

We stayed at Stratosphere last March and had a really nice room. The buffet was really good, too. We were in one of the newer towers so had a larger room than my daughter and her husband who were in the older part. The beds were comfortable, bathroom clean. We had no problem with it except that it was far from the center of the Strip.

The Venetian is heart-stopping! The rooms are the absolute best on the strip. Call and ask to speak to a manager and ask for their best rates. My next choice would be Paris followed by Bellagio. I haven't seen the Wynn but I'm sure it will blow me away.

Bally's - stayed here on my first trip to Vegas a couple of years ago. Got a great rate and liked the center strip location. The room was huge but nothing special, standard bathroom. Felt like any decent Holiday Inn type room. The casino is fairly small here, and with the low ceilings it was terribly smoky at all times. Didn't try the restaurants, but did go over to Paris for the breakfast buffet. Yum! I liked how it was connected to Paris and we went over to the Paris casino to gamble. The location can't be beat, and if the price was right (cheap) I'd stay there again.

Alladin - stayed here a year ago. They had announced the changeover to Planet Hollywood but hadn't started any major changes. We had a standard room and it was pretty crowded. Not much empty floor space. Bathroom was huge, had a deep soaking tub and large walk in shower. Pro's include the Desert Passage way shops and restaurants. Casino was nice, not smoky and had several of my favorite video poker games. Con's - just a bit too far down from the center strip for me, and the walk down to MGM area was nasty with all the construction going on (and gale force winds whipping the dirt around).

Caesar's - DH had a conference here last summer and I joined him for a few days. Caesar's felt stuffy to me, I was surprised. The room was very nice, loved the big tub in the bathroom. Pro's include the attached forum shops and great strip location. We ended up going across the street to Harrah's/Flamingo to gamble. Con's - really pricey, DH's company picked up the tab because of the conference. If I'm paying these prices out of pocket I'll go to the Bellagio or Venetian.

MGM Grand - we moved here for our last night after DH's conference ended. We had tickets to KA and decided to stay here for convenience. I had been in the casino briefly on previous trips, and wasn't all that jazzed about the place. Staying here was a different story, loved it! The room is a standard hotel room/bathroom. Lots of great food options at different price points. Would definitely stay again!

DH had a conference at the Mandalay Bay and wants to stay there again sometime. I'd consider it and just figure on cabbing to the Venetian end of the strip.

Bally's ~ decent, typical hotel rooms, good service, a little smaller (and more manageable) than the large hotels on the strip, great location (across from Bellagio! and mid-strip), large (unthemed) pool

Imperial Palace ~ just got back, standard motely rooms, good housekeeping service (very prompt to deliver extra towels), far too few elevators and very confusing floor plan, while its acceptable it's deffinately not upscale, good location though.

Palace Station ~ about a mile off the strip, very affordable (we got this for less than half the price of the cheapest hotel on the strip), clean rooms, good service, we were in a side building and the main tower would have been nicer, train theming is nice, good hotel for the price (but keep in mind, you have to drive to the strip)

Hotels I want to stay at...
1. Bellagio (the fountains are amazing, inside is gorgeous, O, non-smokey smelling, very refined, etc.)
2. Paris (I like the feel of this place, and the piano bar is amazing!)
3. Wynn (I've never been inside, but I've heard great things)
4. The Venetian (love the Canals)
5. Hard Rock Hotel (off the strip, but it looks fun, plus they have a restaurant with amazing specials)

We have stayed at Caesars, Mandalay Bay, the Four Seasons, Harrahs, and the venetian. My favorite is Mandalay Bay because it smells so good in their casino and of course the pool. By far the worst has been Harrahs. I'm sure some like it for one reason or another, but we found the rooms to be tight and our view was horrible. Also the casino is very smokey and the ceilings are so low. I realize that the price can be cheaper then the rest, but if you search around you can find a good deal. I would NEVER stay at Harrahs again and I hate to say that because I love their casino in New Orleans.

We stayed at the Orleans Dec 2006.We got a rate on expedia for $25 -$28 with tax.Wasn't sure what to expect but was very impressed. We stayed there on are way home from DL.After staying at the smallest room at the Park Vue it felt like we were staying in a palace.

We are staying at the Imperial Palace Easter weekend.I got Josh Groban concert tickets for April 7th for Christmas(my husband loves me because he does't love him)That weekend is SO expensive everywhere.Any other ideas or deals out there?Want to be close to MGM where thre concert is.

I was born and raised there so it is hard to get excited to visit there.Oh well,Josh is so worth it.

We stayed at Circus Circus in November 06 and we loved it. Great price, rooms were ok and the staff were friendly. We only had a hot dog at the bar and a Krispy Kreme but plan to try more this sept/oct when we return. I would rather spend the money I save elsewhere in Vegas as we only sleep and shower in our room!

Went to Vegas and splurged for the Bellagio with the lake view. I felt it was worth every penny. Other splurges there were Couples Massage for the hubby and I, you could actually spend all day in the spa with a treatment. And trust me you could spend all day in the spa there. Dinner at the Prime Steakhouse. I had a shrimp cocktail that was a meal in itself! YUMMY YUMMY! We didn't do any buffets because they are dangerous to me, I didn't want to hve to buy new clothes there. LOL

The Bellagio is still my favorite in L.V.

Woody

I am so excited about staying there, I got a pretty good rate for a partial lakeview, have you stayed in the spa towerd with the obstructive few of the late?
Oh these decisions, I want to really enjoy this trip
TIA :thumbsup2

Excalibur:

Just came back from a 3 night stay there. I wouldn't recommend it, nor will we be staying there again. We've stayed there before - years ago - and I was hesitant after reading mixed reviews of the place. The place was smoky, loud, worn, dated, dirty (hallways and elevators), rooms and hallways were poorly lit, the beds were horrendous, and the food was bland - cheap, tasteless buffet food - there was no quality to it. I will say that I felt that housekeeping did a great job of keeping the rooms clean and tidy. I also felt that the clientel that stayed there were a bit on the rough and seedy side. We won't be staying there again - Mandalay Bay, Paris, etc. are more our style.

We did everything we could to avoid the place and spent over 90% of our time at other casinos. I'm sorry we picked this place.

Sorry if this sounds harsh to any Excalibur fans, but really, there is so much better out there for just a bit more money.

Just adding two more hotel reviews...

Hilton Grand Vacation Club-Flamingo - My husband and I decided to try and save money by staying at my parents timeshare. It's located behind the Flamingo and it used to be called the Carriage House. Let it be known, I would rather stay in a hotel than in a timeshare. We had a one bedroom suite with a jacuzzi tub. Having all of the space was nice but the room was older and definitely needed updating.

THEhotel at Mandalay Bay - We stayed here for two nights in celebration of my 30th birthday. We booked a VSuite which is a one bedroom suite. The room was fabulous! It was easily one of the nicest rooms I have ever stayed in, not as nice as the Wynn but better than the Bellagio. We had a 42" plasma TV in the living along with a 1/2 bath and a wet bar. The bedroom had a decent sized TV, an iHome for the alarm clock (great for charging our phones and iPod since we didn't bring a charger) and two queen beds. It also had slippers, bathrobes and two closets. The bathroom had a water closet, twin vanities, soaking tub, shower and a smaller flat screen TV. The ONLY thing I didn't like about the hotel was the location (which I mentioned in my previous post). It's too far away from everywhere we like to go.

Just returned from the Flamingo. We had a deluxe room that was not renovated. The 'Go' rooms are the newly renovated rooms.

Was on the 12th floor, had a view of Ballys, Caesers, Bellagio. Could see the fountains partially. but went up to the 28th floor and had a wonderful view of the fountains.

I liked the floor to ceiling windows, could lay in bed and see outside.

As it is a older resort it has larger rooms. Lots of space to spread out.
I feel the Flamingo is located in the older part of the strip.

The 'Tropical Breeze Cafe' has good food, large portions.

Ate at the buffet once, it is a standard buffet.

Casino is very smokey.

Took the monorail and visited the Hilton, Balleys, Imperial Palace (its a dump),
MGM looks nice,

We had a show at Mandalay Bay. You can take the monorail to the MGM. Walk across the pedestrian walk to the Excaliber and take a free tram (monorail) to the Mandalay Bay.

I really liked this end of the strip, NYNY, MGM, Tropicana, Mandalay Bay.

Never been to Las Vegas before, looking at maps, things look spead out. Really, we found it very easy to get to all the shows at various hotels.

The over the highway walkways are great!

We were thinking of staying at the Strato. Its cheep and Id rather shop than spend money on a room.

We will be off to Disney after Vegas.

Do they have trollys to take you to the other side of the strip?
How often do the run?

TIA

October last year (2007) we stayed at the Sahara and we loved it. The rooms we clean and the decor is ok. An ok view of the strip, as good as you can get from that location!

The casino is small and has a friendly feeling and every staff member we came across were friendly. The Buffet was ok, not gourmet but the choices were fine and plentiful. The players club was great, and the money back and comps in money to spend throughout the hotel was a bonus as we are not betting huge amounts!

The monorail is great as its location in the sahara itself is quite central, not like walking miles in MGM!

I will look forward to staying there this year if the rate is right! As I mentioned before I prefer to spend my money on other things, but of course if I got a real good rate for Bellagio I would go for it!!

have not been in several yrs. but.........

harrah's free rooms. nice and clean, found the casino to be very confusing to get around in.. this hotel is in great walking distance for other sights.

bally also free rooms. rooms were clean but not well lighted, no view. the most disturbing thing was that the hallways were very dark, dingy and almost spooky. i did not feel comfortable walking to and from my room alone and my travel companion was on another floor. the casino was ok and there was a walk-way to the paris shopping and casino. the paris casino is open and very pretty.

i love the casino at the bellagio but have never stayed there. it was by far my favorite. very refined. i hear they have one of the finest art collections in the united states.

ceaser's palace is quite beautiful and the foram is fantastic. we were at the palace for a convention but did not stay there. when cleopatra walked thru with 2 guards my 86 yr old father asked who she was. when i told him, he said "well, what is she doing here" to which i replyed "this is her palace". still don't think he got the point.

there is so much to do there, i can't wait to go back.:thumbsup2

Out of NYNY and MGM Grand, I like NYNY. MGM is almost too big to navigate. However I don't like both of their locations since they're down at the end of the strip. That area seemed more icky to me than center strip.

Out of Caesars and the Mirage, I'm torn. They're in the center of all the action and you won't go wrong with either.

Don't forget...Beatles LOVE is at the Mirage!! :lovestruc

I'm drawing a blank on this and hope someone can tell me...

What is the name of the new hotel where the Alladin used to be? I think it's next to Paris now. It was under construction when I was there about a year ago, although the casino was open.
